Help! I got break squeal!

I changed my front pads (and turned the rotors) two or three weeks ago. No problem until last Sat. Now they squeal like hell below 20 mph. I thought the rears must be gone...nope I took them apart yesterday and they are still half there. I also took the fronts back apart to look at them and they are fine. What is causing this? I have done over 1000 break jobs in my life and this if the first time I've ever had anything like this. Oh yea, I did use Permatex Disc break quiet as I do on all break jobs I do. I assume the noise is comming from the fronts. Any ideas?

I'm afraid to try and tell aguy that's done "a 1000 brake jobs" what to do..........but, did you break the pads and rotos in properly? i.e. several hard stops from 70-80 mph with cool-offs inbetween?

How was the weather on saturday in Georgetown? Was it colder than it has been since you installed the pads? Did you use simi-metalic pads, they seen to make alot of noise in my experience?

I've had the same problem. took it to dealer, said they were glazed over. Now note this is with 3000 mi. Brand new 01. They turned the roters, and sanded the pads. Then ~200 miles later, same squeal. Slow stops only any harder and it goes away. Figure they're glazed again, but that fast!? Guess so. So I try the occasional hard breaking & riding the break, it works for a few hundred miles then get the squeal. It mainly shows up in stop-n-go traffic. so I just ride the break and it wont happen again for a few days (~50mi roundtrip to work). Try that (ride the breaks) and see what happens.

I'm thinking of upgrading to Ruslows breaks (drilled & slotted stock roters) with Napa's cermix pads.

Gosh I can't even spell today...break...how about brake. Dan I worked at a major brake chain when I first got out of High School but I never had to brake the pads and rotors in. They never made a sound for two weeks! These are Raybestos semi-metalic pads. I really got a shock when I bought them and they were $55.00 for just the fronts. The last time I bought a set of pads (in the mid 80's for a GM truck) they were $22.00. I have to find the answer, I can't put up with the squeal.

Thank you BBQ. I was afraid they could be the cause. What about the Napa pads?

If you have a 2000 model truck there is an issue with the rear brakes squealing. My truck does it as well and has since 300 miles or so. SVT was looking into the cause but I haven't heard anything on that issue lately.

i had that problem too once before, but it was a simple solution.
my vibration clamp on my right from pads was out of place, and scraping on metal somwhere.
so put that back in place and it was cool
might wanna chech that out, if nothing else works

Same thing for me all 11,000 miles.
It's just my little way of letting people at the intersection know I'm there.
