me and my buddy was in his silver 01 L today and run up on a 02 Z06 going down the 4lane so we pull up beside and and give the initial rev. he takes the bait so i tell him to slow down to 60mph. i count to three and were off. we pull him a good 3/4 a truck length till 85 or90 and he pull up til his front end is at our front fender he had a surprised look on his face. we hold him till 130 or so and he slowly pulls away. we talk to him afterwerds and he was really shocked.

 

I still find it too cool to be able to play with the 'big boys' with a 4600lb pick-up truck. I love it. Good road-story man.

 

Does your buddy have nitrous on his L? Because if he doesn't a 02 Z06 from a 60mph roll would walk you really bad they run 116mph trap speeds stock all day long! I seriously doubt it was a Z06 probably a new C5 which they look the same but will run 108 trap speeds in the 1/4.Even a C5 six-speed from a 60mph roll will be hard to beat to 130mph for a modded L.If you were racing one at the drags from takeoff than there are many of us that can beat one incuding myself that are highly modded!No flame intended!

Without SERIOUS mods, I doubt it as well. I've ran a buddies '02 Zo6 from a 60 roll. It wasn't even funny. By 110 he was "movin'" past me and I started with a 2 car length lead.

 

So he was looking at you instead of concentrating on driving when you noticed the confused look on his face? I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it would take some major a$$ mods to hold him off until 130. I know the L can take a Z06 in the 1/4 with just the basics(chip, filter, etc), but at a roll all the way to 130? HMMMMMM...... Your friends truck must be trapping well over 120 in the 1/4. Sounds like he has one awesome set-up......

 

motor trend's numbers- 0-60 in 4.5 seconds....12.6 (i think)) 1/4 at 118 mph. That is fast .

 

Personally......i think the Z driver is an idiot.......he must not be able to drive..........I have two great friends with 02 Z's....i got to play alittle with one on Friday......im telling you.....w/o nitrous.......im gonna have my hands full.......and judging from my mods versus most................Your name better be Nick if your gonna beat a Z like that

Yeah I dont know, I beat a few 01's when I had my 3lber. But they blew there tires away. I dont know if Ill even try a 02 Z06 from a 60mph roll with the 6lber and other mods. They have bad A$$ top end power. My friends uncle works at a Chevy dealership and they just got in a new Electron Blue 02 Z06. I will find out next week how I rate to one....

 

I know a guy who runs a 2000 Honda accord. It's not riced out at all. Looks pretty much stock. I'm not sure what he's done to it, but, he doesn't have any serious add-ons. Just an air-kit, chip, and full exhaust. He mentioned a few other mods that didn't really stick with me; but, those were the big three he was proud of. Anyway, he was telling a story about blowing away a WS6 T/A from a light to about 120. I looked him right in the eye and asked if the other guy new he was racing. 'Really pi$$ed him off I guess but it kinda just slipped out. I'm rambling.......I guess story fits OK in this thread.

 

There was this one time, at band camp, when my truck, a normally aspirated 4.6 longbed, went toe to toe with a Mark IV GT-40, yanno the one with the 427 and Weber downdrafts.

We rolled from 10mph and I kicked his *** all the way to 245mph! On a dirt road! With a two cubic yards of dirt in the back!
