under $5 mod (pics)

Thanks, hdmlnium for the info, you saved me some $$$.

Mod- painting calipers (red)

Rust-Oleum-Sunrise Red-$3.17
Sponge brush- $.50

i did this while rotating my tires.

jacked up one side of the truck at a time, cleaned the calipers with simple green and dried with
a air hose and painted. while the paint dried i cleaned my wheel on the inside like i do every
2500 miles.

That looks really good. I wasnt sure how the red would look with the black truck but i like it. Now you gotta get a set of ruslows rotors. The painted rotors will look good with my boyd coddington 20's. WOW never did a mod for under 5 bucks hehe.

I really dig it. I take it you left them on when you painted them. Since my L as been in storage for the most part of the winter, I've been making a list and stockpiling my goodies. I got the billet pedals and Wet Okoles so far. That paint job is going on the list with chip, belltech drop shackles, valve line mod, and few other goodies I'm saving for. Peace

That does look good!! I have been shooting that idea around for a while, but I never though of using a sponge brush instead of the standard rattle can. The only thing I worry about is the durability of it. I don't want to keep doing it every 6 months.

I used the spray can on my firebird, and the paint did not last very long. I used 500 degree engine paint, cleaned the callipers very well, then put on a few coats of clear engine paint. Within 6 months, it was all cracked and chipping off.

kylightning,
You are very welcome, the calipers looks great. they really do make a difference.
About the paint, I am not sure of the heat rating, but they have stayed looking good on my truck so far. You can pick up the paint at most hardware stores or Home Depot type of place.

rust oleum is an exterior rust preventitve enamel, you can also pick up x-o rust, which is the "true value" brand, same stuff. Comes in a spray can, pints, quarts, or gallons. You can grap a small sponge brush for like 50 cents. Sunrise red is just the color code. x-o rust comes in red, bright red, or tractor red. I think bright red is a tad darker than tractor red. If you have rust on the cals, there is a product by loctite called extend. It is a rust neutralizer....many body shops use it. Can be found in most home supply and hardware stores. Great stuff to use when sanding and touching up rust spots on your trailer hitches or frames too.
