Question Rebuild progress on #2090 '99...

Well, they're starting to rebuild my badly wrecked L soon, and I'm torn between leaving it stock or throwing on this Cervini's ram-air style hood:

http://www.cervinis.com/shop/closeup.asp?part=130

I'd love to get you guys' $0.02 on this stuff. Anyone else have a Cervini's hood? Fit and finish?

I've seen a lot of black Lightnings around. Do you live near old hickory blvd? There is one near cain ridge rd. and another near nolensville rd. There is one with chromed wheels at the cool springs shows last year. I've also seen one at the Dell complex near the airport. There is one that frequents inglewood cleaners and another that likes to street race downtown(highly modified). I wish it was me but he is too fast for my stock truck. Then there is my dad (inglewood area), he has a topper on his L like mine. I'm sure there are more around.

About the hood. I like the cowl hood they sell. I wish it was a 4". you're adding about 30lbs to the truck when you stick on an aftermarket hood. Get a smooth wiper cowl while you're at it.

I live in Twelve Stones Crossing up in Goodlettsville and work downtown.

I really don't like to street race. Typically, around here, it's usually Madison punks with shaved eyebrows and gold chains in purple Civics with lighted windshield washer fluid dispensers who do.

(Side note re: ricers: The greatest pleasure I can derive from a street race scenario with a ricer is to look over at them, smile, then pull away slowly from the light to show them they weren't worth the premium unleaded.)

I'm in the same boat as you. Although, my L proably isn't as banged up as yours. I only hit a deer. I thought about the Cervinis (sp) but ended up with AAD hood. I did that based on apperance. When I spoke with the body shop, they said they don't mind aftermarket and that there was no problem. They said they've done Cervinis and been pleased. Very well built and easy to put on. With that said, I still went AAD. When it got here, it turns out to be just not exactly right. Needs a little shaving on one side, then the other to even up. THEN, it might need washers under the hinge to raise the rear up; just a little low. Am I disappointed, yeah. Am I going to change, no. I like this style better than Cervinies.
Now I understand you've already chosen your style, I was just giving some imput. I chose to go ahead with aftermarket cause it's cheaper to do it now than later. This way, if it has to go back to stock thats $372. If you do stock now, to switch later is whatever it cost for the hood. IOW, go for it.

P.S.
I also did the Street Scene Speed Grille. Told them to ship the Grill Shell for 2000 year model in silver so I would make sure the grill would fit.

I give Nick about a month to blow his engine again. Then you'll be #1.
