The petition is setup to block changes in the current zoning laws. As i was told.....the current zoning does not allow residential housing to be constructed on the site. In order for the contractor to build, the city must amend the current law enabling houses to be ereceted on that site.
Hopefully it would allow the land to remain as is or buy enough time to be sold to someone interested in racing.

 

Done. Being from N.J. I had to witness the closing of flemington speedway. Was going there since I was 3 yrs. old.(dirt and asphalt days) Brother ran dirt modified there. I ran go-karts there. Just a lot of history that is now has 3 ft. weeds growing in turn two. What a shame.

 

I was raised on that track as well! my father has SEVERAL 9-10-11 sec. beauties that we took their every weekend as i grew up. Anybody from L.I. ny, my pops shop is Sunrise Engine Installation, on sunrise highway in islip. Stop by and say hi, I'm the one with the "slow" truck.

 

I work in queens, but by truck is in islip getting tweaked more often than it's in queens. gota love the 1990 lebaron beater.
