Question How much to install Plugs?

I dont really want to put them in my self cuz it sounds/looks like a pian in the *** so...for those of you that had the plugs put in by someone else, what did you pay? I know it will differ from shop to shop but just tell me what you payed. And if anyone on here lives in the bay area and wants to earn some extra cash and has put plugs in their L before, come on down. I wolnt let you do it unless you have done it to urs before because...well u know

PLUG CHANGE

There are plenty of people that could barely turn a wrench, and they are changing their own plugs. There is tons of good info out there thoroughly breaking it down into little baby steps. Worth a try.

when was the last tiem you changed the plugs on a gen2 lightning? you know how hard it is to get a wrench towards the back of the engine bay? about the only one i could easily do would be the one on the bottom left(looking at your engine from the front). the ones closer to the fire wall require like 3 or 4 extenders and u joints just to get back there. now if it was my friends 65 stang i could be done in 10 minutes or less. changing the spark plugs use to be an easy job but nowadays its a lot harder. I would imagine in 10 years or so you wolnt even be able to change the filter without being ASE certified

J15BIG,

It really isnt that bad, Just take it ONE plug at a time. That way you cant drop anything down on top of a piston!! I think the book shows like 4 or 5 hours to change them at a shop. normal rate is like $60 a hour so your looking at close to $300 at the dealer. You may be able to take it somewhere else and get charged for 2 hours. Its up to you man. I wish I was closer id help you out!!

<----- I think this is #800!!!!

Why don't you try and give it a shot? I hear it can cost up to around 80.00 dollars.

J15BIG- If you'll look at my sig., you'll see where my plugs have been for the last month. I'm not looking forward to climbing in on them either. I did go buy a telescoping magnet though.

ICULOKN- POSTWHORE!!!

most ford dealers will charge about 2hrs labor plus parts, so figure about 150 or so. this is repetitive work for their techs, so they can probably do it in under one hr.

ICULOKN- For a POSTWHORE, your not a bad fella. As tempted as I am to take you up on your offer, I think I'm going to do it myself. Too many guys on the forum have done it for me not to try. Besides, no matter how hard it is, it's always sweet to stand over a finished project and know you did it yourself. I really haven't had a good day when I had the time to dig in yet. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've been thinking about driving up to NJ for some LTs. If I do, maybe I'll stop off on my way back through and let you check 'em out. There used to be a good Korean joint just outside of Bush Gardens, I've been dying for some jap-che. You ever tried any?

Odin,

There is alot around Busch Gardens. There is one that cooks it in front of you. I dont mind meeting up with anyone, Yeah I do post alot lately. I guess I have nothing better to do. But if your interested and its not that far from you, we could change them at the Kinston Dragway if you want to come. It can be done in around a hour, its really not that bad with the right tools. Either way dont hesitate to ask if anything happens to come up when you try it!!

Dang right they can. My mechanic changed mine in less than an hour and he'd never worked on an L before. It was easy for him.

ICULOKN,

I saw that they were thinking about the 26th at Kinston. I start a weeks vacation on the 28th and am going to try to show up if it works out for that weekend. I'll see you there if it does.

Roger
