Wink R E S P E C T

A coupla friends and I were out havin' a few beers last night and started talking about our cars, my buddy said that he would smoke my truck (he has a '97 SS Camaro). I could help but laugh. I don't think he has any idea of how fast these trucks are. I think he might take my truck in the 1/4 but not by much more than a tenth or two (my L is stock, his SS is basically stock but has a K&N intake on it), am I right?

But, now I am pricing a filter, pulley, and chip combo just to make sure I would spank him of course I won't tell him I have those until afterwards.

Now the question should I go 2# or 4#? I don't want tranny problems or anything. And, I know I'll need new plugs. Anything else I'm missing?

He's one of those guys stuck on Chevy and puts down a Ford any chance he can, I like anything fast (well except if it has a Dodge emblem on it ) I gotta teach him the meaning of the word respect.

Some of these other guys are more expert that I but....with the pulley bigger equals more hp!!!! You'll need to have your chip reburnt to make sure the fuel/air is right. Word of warning: those SS's are pretty salty. I toy with them from time to time, but I've got a little "go go juice" on my side. Good luck to you.

I'd say chipenfilter. If he beats you with just that, shake his hand since many-a-car has lost to that combo... He'll earn our R E S P E C T.

2manytoys, i'd watch out for those camaro SS. I'm a ford man too, and i love the lightnings, there beautiful. I own a Supercrew 4X4. I prefer off roading and stuff, but my buddies are all sports car lovers. And me being the only one thats mechanically inclined i work on the cars because i enjoy it. My buddy has a lightning that has some mods, (Flows, K&N intake, and a few others) no major mods. It's fast don't get me wrong, but those SS like black bomber said are very salty, and i would wait and race to see the outcome before i starting talking too much, not saying that you are. I've worked on them and seen what they can do, but the 97 SS are just the LT-1, which i personally believe would get you by a car length or so, maybe more. But the 98 and up LS-1 would leave you with your finger in your nose. My friends Cobra has flows and an X-pipe and he runs close to em but the LS-1 is a bad dude. My friend raced the lightning i was telling you about and he beat him pretty bad. I love the lightning but it's got a lot more weight to hall around than these little ole sports cars. Keep sportin those trucks there beautiful. I'm by no means tryin to dog your trucks, i love them, these are just some experiences i've had and i've seen it happen, just tryin to help.

97 SS are just the LT-1
Yeah, I know the '98 and up are the shiznit (not saying that the 97's aren't but it's kinda comparing a '95 Cobra to an '01 Cobra). If he had the Ls-1 I wouldn't have even said anything to him.

I just want to show him I could tow his car to and from the track and still beat him down the 1/4 mile.

I'd take my chances with a chipnfilter. My wife's car is a '99 Firebird Formula, LS1, M6, Hurst, K&N, and free mods. No, it's not a Ram Air, but the best it's done is 13.9 @107. With the F-bods, unless the owner is willing to really slip abuse the clutch off the line, they don't launch all that well. For a drag race, I'd take my chipnfiltered L. any day.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. You should have no problem beating him stock, unless he has mods. If so, chipnfilter should handle him easily. The 98& up LS1s are another story. He'll put up alot better of a fight then, if equipped.

Well with my 2001 being stock I raced a friend of mine in his 98 z28 w/ the hypertech programmer and just beat him by about 1/2 a truck ( his nose was at my door)and he always beats the "ss" camaros, but i think if his was stick it would of been me losing.
