Question Mounting Speakers

While on the subject of Speakers. I mounted a set of DX7's last weekend. In the install, I used the 10 x 10 dynamats, and the XTC baffles on the front doors, and on the back, but cutting those in half due to the lack of depth. With everything back together, the sound is good, but does seem muffled as compared to stock. I think the culprit is the baffles and will likely take them out this weekend. (Reason I put the XTC's in was to keep dust and dirt off the back of the speakers.) If so, should I still use a small ring of foam around the edge of the speaker hole, or just forget it? Any other suggestions?

I would say remove the baffles, too. I have the same setup, without baffles, and it sounds a whole lot better than stock. The range of the DX-7's is so much greater than the old speaker with the cool whizzer cone tweeters. I also did not use any foam around the speaker mounting point. The Dynamat does the work of the foam...

I'm sure you checked this, but is the polarity correct on the DX7's?
