Service Engine Soon (Light on)

Ok, got done installing my new JL DiabloChip, and 90mm MAF with Air Induction Kit. But when I start my car it says, "Service Engine Soon" Light is on. I pushed the chip in and made sure it was firm, but it still does this...any ideas?

Reset the PCM and see if it comes back on. If it does find some one with a scanner and see what the code is.

ShadowLightning,

I know this sounds repetitive. Make darn sure after you reset the PCM you have cleaned all the gook off the pins the chip will make contact with in the PCM.... front and back. Then re-seat the chip and duct tape the bad boy inplace.

One thing to remember is, DO NOT wiggle the ground on the battery as you put it back on. Try to get it on fast to prevent SPIKES to the PCM!!!

As the others have said, Make sure your contacts are REALLY CLEAN!!

Alright, undid the negative battery cable, unplugged the chip from the PCM, let sit for about 10 min. Then went back, plugged the chip in snugly, made sure it was in correctly, connected the negative battery cable, and the light did not come on. However, when I was driving this morning, I stopped for some food. When I came back and started the truck again, it came on. Any ideas? Is this all to do with the chip? Or might this have something to do with the 90mm MAF and JL Air Kit I installed with it? Some feedback please....truck doesn't run any different when the light's on, just bugs the hell out of me.

How firmly is the chip attached. I remember on earlier chips, a nice wide piece of tape was required...

This is in very firmly. I had the chip running a different program and it worked fine, no engine light or anything. But I got it retuned by Johnny Lightning (It's a DiabloSport Chip) and now it seems to do this. Any ideas?

Disconnect the neg. battery cable, pull the chip and leave it out. If the light doesn't come back on, I'd say it was the chip.

If it does come back on, you'll have to start looking elsewhere.

Yes I did connect the air temp sensor to the intake. In the JL Kit it goes through a rubber grommet. I put it in there very snugly.. I'll go try to pull the chip out and see what happens. Can I run the 90mm MAF without the chip though?

Ok. Pulled out the chip, and the Service Engine Soon light goes away. So it has to be something with the chip. Alright, other than cleaning the studs and making sure it is in...can anyone think of what this is?

Take duct tape and tape the sucker in place. (around the chip and onto the PCM box. See if that holds the chip in firmly while you drive down the road.
