Fords answer to the Dodge V10
D@mn! talk about big block. speaking of, there's one for sell now on E-bay in a Mustang for $14,500. A prev post had the link. Decked out and ready to race.
On another note, I've got a buddy looking for a Boss 302 engine. ANY body know where he can start looking or have a hook up? The cheapest he has found is in someone's back yard and JUST the block, with a fracture for ~$5k!
Needless to say he's still looking.
Anybody?

i had a boss 429 back in 1971 and its not the bad *** car you think it was.no low end power and and top end wasnt much better.but we all know it was only built to satisfy nascar.intake ports were way to big for the street and very few showed up at the drag strip.yes,it can be made to run better but way too much money and parts are hard to come by.

Oh yeah! Back in the day both Boss motors, the 302 and the 429 were not the end all motors. Go check the archives of Road & Track or Car & Driver. The only place where these things were fast is in your faded memories of the past.
My Godfather bought a Torino for my Godmother and it had a Boss 429. The engine lasted about a month before he pulled it out and put it in a flat bottom V-drive. When I was younger, he took me for a long ride in it at the "basins" on the Colorado river. Talk about a thrill and terror all at the same time! It freaked out a lot of people because we were gone 3 hours. He tweaked a few things on the motor and dynoed close to 700 hp. He only put about 20 to 30 hours on the engine because the river was generally to chopped up to drive it safely. It was crated for years until he pulled a '32 duece out of storage, built a new frame and put the motor in it.
What's funny is that my interest in fast cars and racing is probably because of him. My first ride in a race car was with him the night I was born! My mom went into labor, my dad was at a party and "Uncle George" was the only one around. The only car he had running at that moment was a car he built just for racing. My mom said everything was fine until she let out a scream from a labor pain at a stop light. From what I was told, he dropped the hammer and never let up until they got to Cedars Sinai.
