Cool Billet Bullit fuel door

Can someone who has this door please attach or email me a pic of the door CLOSE UP, so I how it looks, please?? I'm a little deprived out here in a small town. Closest SVT dealer from me is 4 hrs away. And the Ford dealers around here don't have any Bullits around.

Being that there's word out here that this door off of the Bullit is an exact fit to the Lightning, which I'm going on the word of others here btw, I'm looking at getting one if 'the look' is right. I get wicked deals from my local dealer, so I'll go through them.

Thanks all.

Wink

I will post a couple in a few minutes, and mine is white too so it should give you a good idea on how it will look.

Here is a pic of the fuel door. It obviously isn't off of my L but this is a pretty good close up.
Hope this helps

Who has the best price on the Bullitt Door? I'm thinking about getting one and painting it black, but without the clearcoat. Seems that in aluminum, it would stand out too much.

Thanx Builtfordfast and Hdmlnium. That helped me A LOT. Especially with the white paint job. I was afraid the contrast between the paint and the door maybe a little too off. But I'm sold. I'll have to go pick one up now. Thanx guys.

BTW, do ya'll know if it's an exact fit without mods or having to adjust or fix anything? Thanx for the help.

a REAL fuel door

If you want the real deal, amazing quality, great looks, etc. then check this out:

http://www.fueldoors.com/

Plus the owner, Randy, can paint it any colour, include logos, or jsut clearcoat it.

These weren't around when I had my 2000 L. But I did get one of the Focus doors when I had that. I'll be getting one for the new L this time around.

Check out the Lightning pics on his site and all the different finishes. It's a darn impressive door.

Those are some great fuel covers, a lightning bolt etched into one of those matching the color of the L would look damn good! It would be a subtle mod but way worth the money!

My Good friend gave me a Mustang Bullet Billet Gas Door last week the door is cool inside there is a Horse and a Ford logo. I used 2 small nylon spacers in between the door and the fender on the 2 bolts and the Frame and Door sits flush.

Any problems with the clearance when the fuel door is opened?
(Both aftermarket and ford doors) In other words do i have to worry about it slipping and chipping my paint ?

Kobiashi-

Those gas caps are awesome...... I just added the pro-fit cap to my mod list. I am going to have the outer ring painted white to match my truck, and keep the center brushed....

Thanks for the link..

re: Pro Fit

Dave -

Just a note...

When I had the focus I got the manual one. All of the three basic styles are built exactly the same with exactly the same materials, the only difference being how they open. The automatic/electric one is sweet. There is a barrel key version which is nice because the barrel key isn't big and is easy to attach to you key ring, and the manual one which requires this little device that;s bigger than a barrel key and so a little more obtrusive on the key ring.
You can not open just by sticking your finger under the latch and pulling so in that sense all are very secure.

The door is top notch. Built of solid aluminium, seriously heavy duty...like a tank. I got nothing but compliments everytime I filled up for gas. People always asking me if the door came with the car. Since it was a Focus they couldn't have cared less about the car but they loved the door.

Just tell Randy that Chris who had the Black Focus sent you. Hopefully he'll remember me. He was a really cool guy. He personally inspects everything and won't approve anything unless it is perfect.

I have had two of the Pro-fit doors, one on my '94 GT and one on my '01 Cobra. They got cheap on the Cobra one, as it came with no coating at all, and here in Florida it means salt water corrosion fast. Had to disassemble it and paint it myself after it corroded.

The first one, on the '94, had a nice finish, worked well, but did require maintenance to maintain function and appearance. It tended to stick after a year on the car, even with lubrication. The finish also eventually degraded, even with constant washing and waxing.

Overall, for $289 each, I expected better.

I have the Bullit fuel door on both my L and my wife's Expy (fits them better than the L even). No issues with them, and the finish is excellent as an OEM style part should be.

Several of the tuners here have the Bullit fuel door, as does KarKraft . All range in the $90 to 100 range.
