Service Engine Soon Light
Just had a new enguine put in my truck,it's an 00,with an 01 engine.Anyway mecvhanic said he got a SES light ran diagnostics and said the lefy bank was running lean.We reset the light, it came on about 14 miles later, reset, came on 15 miles later, reset, came on 25 miles later.Ok ideas????. There is no chip in the truck, the engine in brand new.Is it a sensor,or fuel filter,or???? >Kinda of puzzling but seems as though the truck is running great but lean isn't good.I'm taking it in for another scan tomorrow, thougt I'd see what you all think since more times tahn not your right on the money where the mecehnics seem a bit puzzled at times.
Thanks for the Help!

I'll bet your 00 PCM still thinks you have the 00 80mm MAF--but then again, you may(thinking about this as I key...) if all that was changed was the eng. That's all that I can think of..............

I previously had a 00 engine with a 90mm mass air,and had a chip done to accomodate that.I tried the new engine with the same chip, but got the same results. In my way of thinking shouldn't the chip accomodate for the 90mm,and if the pcm is looking for an 80mm and the chip is burned for a 90mm,shouldn't that solve the problem?

Jerry,
I know what your saying, but if the '00 PCM has a default for a 80mm then that is what it will look for. There are lots of variables that I am not aware of at the moment, but there maybe something that your old PCM is looking for and cannot find.
I am not good with automotive computers, but I do have a degree in computer electronics and I know that if you swap or change anything in a regular computer or on the machines that I work on, you will have HUGE problems with the machines recognizing their purpose and their components.
I would try to get '01 PCM for '01 engine.

Not a reflash on the computer,it should work, but then when you get a code lean left bamk could also be a leak around the collector,or maybe a header gasket, well time will tell. The motor is very strong I had the manley rods put in it and am very confident it will last the entire season and more...
