Question about fixing flat.
I have been dealing with a slow leak for about two weeks. I found a roofing nail in the tire today. Question is should i have it plugged or have a patch put on the inside or both. Thanks. Bob.

Hey Bob...Ive always had them torn down and patched...get a better seal I think, plus if you do any high performance driving it has a lesser chance of causing a blow out I think. But thats just my opinion
I'm not sure how about speed tires but I've plugged many many off-road tires (without patching because lets face it when your off-road you don't have time to disassemble the tire, patch it, re-set the bead, air it up again, etc.) and they have always held up fine. In fact most people don't ever even ever have them re-patched and the plugs last until the tire wears out.
I had a big-a$$ 3/8" bolt go through the center of my tread. Thought the damn wheel was coming off when the bolt head banged the pavement on each rotation. Goodyear shop did a patch & plug job from the inside. Said it was as good as new.
Never been a problem since.

Thanks again for the help. I had a patch put on the inside of the tire. I asked about the plug combo patch. I was told only to use it when you have a big hole. Other wise it is not good for the steel belts. Thanks. Bob
