Angry my local ford dealer are thieves

I took my Lightning to get its regular oil change and a change of brakes whick took all day. When I got my truck back I realized My amp was stolen with my pioneer subs that were behind the back seat. I went back to Ford and told the service manager what happenned, he said that there was nothing he could do about it, they were not responsible for valubles left in autos. What am I supposed to do everytime I change my oil, unload my truck of all valubles? I might have to get wheel locks for my 20 inch rims now.

The same thing happened to one of the members on this board. He ended up taking the to court and won. Work up the dealer chain of command, call the regional rep, then as a last resort sue them. Don't be a **** to them you won't get anywhere. Be very clear about you intentions and then follow through.

Was the truck broken into...If not I would say the were negligent in securing your property. If they say someone took the key and returned it..insist they were negligent..If you wrote a check for payment consider cancelling it. This has worked for me in the past ..it gets thier attention. I had a 1972 240Z painted and drove it a block to the dealer for a valve job. Went to pick it up and it had a crease across the right front fender that looked amazingly like the head was dropped on it. They denied it.... I wasn't convinced. The paint job was to cover up the repair work done when I drifted off the rode and into a tree...head on.Stopped payment on the check..they called and said If they had done it they would fix it in thier shop. I said too late...kept the money and the valve job...they never attempted anything else..sorta wish they had.

Call the police report the theft and mention the dealership had your keys. This may be a recurring problem at the Dealership. They need to fix it and compensate you.

At the very least I would have them pay My deductable..but I really think I would hound the hell outta them.

Better Business Association in your town needs to know about this...mention it to the service manager..Demand to talk to the owner..he may be in the dark. Notthat he could see the "light".
Good luck......
Just my opinion..any one Agree?

Go and explain it all again. If they won't do anything still ask if you can use his phone.

Then proceed to call the cops and let him watch.

You also might be able to get security camera video tapes. Even if they don't have them in the garage you should be able to get ones from cameras outside where you can see the person loading your stuff into his vehicle. Or even walking through the Ford building with it.

Edit: You can even put the cops on speed dial on your cell phone so you can get to them fast. If you wanna scare them, take a trip down to the local bars and get some bouncers to come with you.

Hey Blown, I agree with Twisted. I would first speak with the manager/regional rep/ owner whom ever. If this doesn't stir anything up I would then report this to the police, also the BBB,and to your local new station. FOX here has a show "on your side" that reports of people getting ripped off. I bet they would love to hear your store, and so would the dealership. Just an idea. Good Luck Dageon

i asked my insurance agent about "add-on" stuff, and if it was covered in case it was stolen. i have quite a bit of stereo equipment in my truck, and would hate to have it ripped off.
the insurance agent told me that as long as its in my vehicle, its insured.. cd players/changers/amps/speakers/radar detectors/ect!

what you should do:
call the police & report the crime.
then try everything you can with the ford place. it's their responsibility
if that fails, contact your insurance agent & tell them what happened. maybe they can cover your loss then sue or send a bill to the ford place.

a different take on the subject:
i took my truck to the local ford dealership to have the "clunk" fixed. they put my truck up on a rack and it fell off about a foot in the air!
it caused light damage to the fender, door jam, and ground effects on the drivers side.
i asked them to fix it and give me an extended warranty for the loss of value to my truck. (door jam and fender had to be fixed & painted) that wasn't too much to ask, huh?
they thought so, they just wanted to fix the damage.
to make a long story short, i wasn't gonna let them get away that easy.
took my truck to my insurance agent, and they had me take my truck to a body shop of my choice to have it fixed. ( i took it to the best one in town. read: expensive!) they paid for it, and BILLED the ford dealership!!! w00t!
needless to say, i'm not too welcome around that dealership any more..

what i am trying to say is: let your insurance company deal with it, they have the means and resources to fight the dealership!
the insurance people dont want to foot the bill for something the ford place is responsible for.

anyway.. let us know how it turns out.

hope this helps.

did i miss this

just wonder, could be common sense but were these components acually installed are were they sitting on your truck behid the seat waiting to be installed? If not installed, you'll probably be out of luck. If they were installed into your truck and were ripped out....then undoubtably you shall be compensated. Mybe the dealer has survailence equipment in the lot....some do. I even take my snow brush out when it goes in. Purposely left a dollar rolled up on the console one time, but no one took it.

blowntruck,

sorry to hear what happened. I am an underwriter for national insurance company that insures car dealerships. I suggest that you find out who their insurance carrier is and either report this to them or speak to the dealer's insurance contact.

All dealerships that do service have a coverage called "Garagekeepers Legal Liability". Basically this covers damages or loss to vehicles the dealer has "car, custody and control" of for any reason.

Let me know if you need any help finding the insurance carrier. I may be able to locate, but can't promise.
