I need some advice on wheels for MT E.T. Streets
I plan on buying a set of Mickey Thompson E. T. streets, 26x11.5x16. I need two wheels to go with these. I really don't want a plain old painted steel wheel. I prefer an aluminum wheel.
I had figured that I would need a 10 inch wide wheel but was told that an 8 inch would do. What do you guys that race recommend? What brands and size? Part numbers would be great too.
Thanks,
Chikenears

Tim,
You can use a 16X8 or a 16x10. I had 8's up front and 10's in the back. I had a 225/60/16 up front & a 26/11.50/16 on the back. JL & Sal both have some used American Racing BAJA wheels for sale. I used a Ultra Type 51. Myself & Lenny were the only ones I knew that had them. Really nice looking wheel. The BAJA is similar to a Weld Wheel in look....
I may even be able to get the set I sold to a guy back cheap if your interested....

Would there be any benefit from using an eight on the rear over a ten? My advisor
seems to think so. Makes no sense to me
All I plan on doing is the rear and running the stock wheels with F1's on the front.
Yes Richard, I'm interested and would like to see them. Do you have any pics?

Tim,
The only pics I have are a few pictures I had made by the Photo Guy at the track. I have been trying to scan them but it isnt working to well. I had just the back for awhile. But then street racing got the best of me so I drove around on the ET Streets and had tons of fun playing. I hated changing wheels at the track!! Thats why i had front & rear. Some say the 8 in will make more rubber wrinkle and grip. I dont think so. Its your call. When I gave the guy the wheels they had no nicks. Front tires had 200 miles on them, rear had about 200 miles plus 10 passes. I will call him tommorow. If he dosent want to sell them or if he has, I can get these wheels on a GREAT deal. I wont post the price but you cant beet it unless you buy used. I can get almost any wheel REALLY cheap. Except my 22's i want damn it!!!

The first wheel is the Ultra Type 51 like I had. The second wheel is the American Racing Baja. I cant sleep, they are coming to get my bike in the morning. I hope they total it!! I know I am not going to get what I owe on it though!!!
Most run the BAJA, I had to be different. Lenny & his wife really like my wheels when I went to Cecil for a race. He went and got a set. Mad me feel good to do something others liked!!

If you can wait a month or so Hoosier will be coming out with a QUICK TIME PRO D.O.T. 28 inch tire that will fit a 16 inch rim.
I have been in touch with Hoosier and will let you know when they release the tire.

DonsBolt,
Do you run Hoosier's? Also, do you think that the 28" Hoosiers would hook up better than the 26" MT's? Final gear ratio is a concern too. If I'm right, the 26" tires will lower the final gear ratio a little as opposed to the 28's but the 28's will have better wrap?
My plan for this spring is to run the 1/8th mile. We might be splitting hairs here but that's what racing is all about and I haven't raced in several years so I need all the info I can get.
I still need a couple of wheels too. Manufacturers and part numbers would be great.
I really appreciate your help, thanks a bunch!

If your only runnig 1/8 mile tracks the 26 would prob be ok.
Myself I only run on 1/4 mile tracks, and with the 26" tire I would be running out of gear as I get to the traps.
So far I have tried a set of 26" E/T Streets one day and didn't really like them. So excert for 3 runs all my runs were on stock tires.
I will be getting a set of 28" slicks this spring hopefully with 16" rims, but If I have to go to 15" rims I will.
