How to fix the shifting problems

These trucks suck when they shift. I was told that the pcm cuts off some cylinders when shifting so the power want hit the tranny hard. I have unplugged something under the hood (friend told me about)that helps some, but 1-2 shift is still pretty bad. I was told that even a chip want fix this! Is this true? What else can I do?

Hey get you a shift kit and we'll put it in when we do the plugs. Then we can get Chris to burn you a chip and you'll be set. We're getting ready to Dyno mine and burn a race chip. But we ant going to need it with weather like today. You seen me run at Irvington though. Give me a Call when you get ready.

Increasing the line pressure in the transmission will "stiffen up" the shifts. You can do this two ways: Electronically or mechanically. Shift kits (mechanical) are considered the best way to go because you won't work the pump as hard as you will by raising the line pressure with a chip. As for cutting off the fuel during the shifts, this is for trans life. Go with a shift kit (mod valve) and be sure to tell the chip what you have done. I hope this helps. Fred.

Hey ivan thanks for the help! You are going to get chris to do a chip! You think he can do better than what you have? Just wondering because I saw the white truck run and it was kinda slow! Anyway a Shift kit will fix my shifting? I thought unplugging the boost dump would fix that but dunno. Where did you get the shift kit?

You need the chip to get rid of the studder during shifts. The shift kit is needed to keep the transmission alive. The shift kit alone won't do it.

The cheapest, easiest, and most economical way to fix this problem you speak of is get a SuperChip Flip Chip, 4X4 Transmission pan/ filter combo, and a line mod valve for the transmission. And for a few bucks more a cold air intake filter will open your L up to a new life. Guaranteed. Ask anybody here.

Once these mods are installed, you will not believe the difference!

As for which vendor you use, there are many here and it's your choice. All are good.

My truck was just like yours is now. It would spin the tires all the way through first gear and fall flat on it's face in second. Not now, it'll smoke them all the way to the top of second gear.

A chip will help a lot and you can get the line mod valve HERE.

Get you a Diablo Chip and Trans accumulator valve to go with it, i garantee the problem will be solved. Diablo is the way to go, spins them even on second gear. Awesome.

I am thinking about swapping my entire valve body with a modified one. I know without replacing the chip the 1-2 fart will still be there, but that doesn't really bother me, plus it will make the tranny last longer. Have any of you guys done the valve body without the chip? How do you like it?

If you get a chip, be sure to have your tuner leave the line pressure at thee stock (factory) settings, upping line pressure with software is a bad idea.
