Money and Keeping it.
In response to a threadposted ..lately. EEC codes and chip usage. Or how to cover up the fact...
This approach will no doubt lessen the chances of being burnt Fords representatives. Remember the Dealerships are paid for the work they do on your vehicle under warranty. Less, I'm told than if you paid cash. I would chance a guess that the more knowledgable the service people are, the mechanics etc. that they would want the work. Novices tend to take alot longer to do flat rate work, than the experienced hands.
My approach has been to build a good relationship with a Service Manager, Department and get on a one on one basis with the mechanic. I have never had a warranty claim denied. In fact they impress me with the willingness to go the extra mile. I own Fords....mostly. I buy my parts from the same Dealership time in and out. I get parts at cost plus 10% which ain't too bad. I get parts fast. I let the Service Manager ride MY Buell the other day. He loves bikes. I usually know, investigate any problems I am having and present the information up front. I make it known I expect what I pay for. I pay for the warranty. If a Dealership wants to deny a claim..don`t let that slow you down. There are numerous alternate avenues to address.
Allways be curteous and polite. Believe me it willl work more times than not. I mentioned that my 01 has the slap on start up and they asked me when I wanted a new engine. Or would I prefer they pull the pistons, etc . I mentioned a rod upgrade and it was NO problem. Under warranty. Of course I pay the difference for any parts they replace just for me..and only the difference in cost of the parts they put in for warranty reasons.
I try to make the job as easy as possible for the mechanic. If I know whats wrong I tell him. He saves time and aggrevation.
He appreciates My effort..as much as I do his.
This owner-dealer relationship is the bottom line.
Don't even get me started on Car salesmen....
