Angry stolen lightning 12/7/2001

December 7th, "a date which will live in infamy." Woke up looked outside and found my gates broken open and my lightning gone.

Just settled with State Farm, they were pretty fair. They paid me about 1,000.00 under msrp. Truck had 3500 miles and was 3.5 months old. Tried to buy a replacement L on X-plan but no dealers I called would do it. I bought a Screw instead. I miss my L but maybe I'll get another one down the road. I was disappointed that the dealer (World Ford, Pembroke Pines, Fl.) I paid full price for my L would not make an exception and sell the truck at the X-plan price. I guess one "home run" was'nt enough for them. So, I took my business elseware.

Those guys @ World Ford of Pembroke Pines are a joke. BTW, welcome to the board....another fellow South Floridian!

When I was looking for my L a couple months back, they had 2 white ones there..........both had the front bumper totally scratched up underneath, and they made it seem like it was no big deal! One of them even had almost 700 miles! The salesmen tried to look like they invented the Lightning, and fed me all kinds of BS on the specs. I had to school them on the real specs......trying to tell me that the '01's had 60 more hp to the wheels than the 99-00's....DUMBSH_IT!

Anyways, Good luck with your new truck, and I hope everything gets resolved.........hey, at least we got better weather than most the guys on here!! HEHEHHE

Do you remember if your truck had a sticker on the side window that said "Protector plus" vehicle tracing system? There is a phone # as well, maybe it's worth a call to see if they really can track it down( not that you'd want it back after its been stolen). The # is 1-888-291-9991. Does everybody have this sticker or is it just on my truck?

All of the glass on my L was etched with an ID # before I bought it. The dealership I bought it at does it to all new vehicles, but I didn't want the service so I didn't pay for it. It's probably just like your sticker.

Later,
Roger

I'd be very curious to see how they stole it. The new PATS system is suppossed to be very good, the truck wont start without the right key. The poor thing is probably all parted out.

Sorry about your loss.
If they find your truck all gutted out, give me an email. I am looking for a theft recovery I can make into a race L. As long as the frame and body is intact.

That was about the only way I can see it being done. In all of the stolen car reports I have done, I have NEVER had an F150 taken without the keys. Not like these things are most Chrysler/Dodge products....LOL.....you look at them wrong and they get stolen, they are SOOOOOOOOO easy.
If you own a Dynasty, Acclaim, etc, I would just leave the doors unlocked and the key in it so they don't have to trash it BEFORE they steal it.

Hey........no need to rub it in. Some of us here are going through Lightning withdrawls here because of the snow.

But seriously Starquester, sorry to hear about that. Lose money on any mods? Hope ya find the #@%* who took it. Then take off that beauty of a driveshaft that our trucks are equipped with, and beat him down with it.

Stolen Lightning

Ohhhh #@*%!! Sorry Starquester. I didn't realize what my signature (last line-quote) had on it until I re-read the post. It wasn't on purpose. Had it there for a little while now. So now I removed that section in respect to your M.I.A Lightning. I just have to think of something else. Again........my condolances.
