Racing Season Opens!
Got racing withdrawls. Don't worry the tracks open soon.
Anyone up for California Speedway on Jan 12. My son and I will be there bright and early on Saturday morning.
I'm going to try to squeeze some 12's out of this beast before I wear it out. It's got 40,000 miles on it now, and it will probably start slowing down soon.
My son Matt, is going to try to get the ugly Chevelle into the 11's too.
It would be great to have a large Lightning showing. Maybe we can get some press?

Dang, how did you get so many miles on your truck that quickly, Jay? Tell me more. I have never run at Calif. Speedway. It is a long drive for me, and I heard you don't get in many runs. I will be returning from San Francisco Friday, so thats even more driving. On the other hand it would be the first chance to try out my Nittos.
George, I use my truck as a daily driver. I am a salesman, with a large territory, that extends through Bakersfield and across to Paso Robles. I rack up about 25,000+ miles per year.
What you have heard about Fontana is true. Three runs is about it for the day. That's pretty much true for any track out here.
It also helps if you get your runs in early. The traction is pretty much gone by noon. There are too many imports on low profile, hard, rubber street tires leaving marbles on the starting line.
It's the only 1/4 mile around. We seem to have fun anyway. Remember the quote "A bad day of racing is still better than a good day of work"
In about another year, Carlsbad will be history too.

Well, I'd rather get 10 runs in at Irwindale than 3 at Fontana. Think I will just skip it. Famoso is just as close as Fontana to me, and I like the track. They haven't posted their '02 schedule yet, but as soon as they do I will post it. You know they are running Solo2 at Hollywood Park on 1/26-27, don't you? I am really up for giving that a whirl.
I wasn't aware that they were running Autocross there. I just might go to check it out. I don't have tires for that type of comp. I understand the F-1's chunk up if you run them too much.
Jay,

If you can't make it to Inglewood, they are running at Fontana in Feb. Be there or be square.

Jay,
I'll be there for sure, Saturday morning bright and early. I was out at Danny Swansons today and mentioned the drags to him. He said that he will try to get out there with his tuning equipment to do a little fine tuning at the track, just have to let him know a few days in advance.
Hopefully my new F1's will be in before then, theyre no drag radials, but they sure beat the traction I've got now! I need to get in touch with you too about getting the spacer for my truck-traks in the next couple days.

Jim, I'm going to try and be there before 6:00 AM if possible. A friend of mine is trailering his El Camino, so we will have to unload down the street and drive it 1/2 block to the gate. It may take us a few minutes.
I'm not sure who else will be showing. 00Whitelightneen will be there.
I'm spending Friday preparing. Changing plugs, and putting the truck on a diet. I'm going to try my special program with some 100 octane 76 also. This baby's going to run 12's or bust.

If I can find the money, I'll be there as well....need to find some 101 octan somewhere though.... I've been dying to take the seats out and race, anyone know how??? At most, the tailgate is coming off....
Marcus,
LACR is going to be open Friday night...
They sell the unleaded race gas there...
I don't think Im going to make it out to Fontana, I need to send my chip back for a reburn, get the 4lb pulley installed & change my plugs and dagnabbit... Im lazy.

Hey Dale, what's going on...I need to send my chip back as well, but don't think I'd get it before saturday, plus there really isn't a huge problem with my chip, so it can wait. If you want help changing the pulley, shoot me a e-mail or call, once the truck is up in the air, I have it down to a 30-45 min. job.
I appreciate the offer Marcus..
I've got a JL 3lb'er on there now, Im going to be replacing it with a JDM 4lb'er to get the cage back on there and also to give it a stock appearance..For those dealership issues
Going from a cageless pulley to a caged pulley outta be a quick and simple job as opposed to the other direction...
Im not going to make it to Fontana, but I am going to run out to LACR on Sunday for the test and tune with a friend... May not have my truck... But I'll be out there.
Have fun guys!

Marcus, check Phillips Petroleum website for the location of the 76 stations that carry 100 unleaded racing gas. I guess I'm lucky, there is a station about 2 miles from my house that has it. I am spending the day tomorrow readying the truck. I'm gonna go for it.
Hope to see you soon.
Dale, a friend of mine has VHT to paint on the tires. We are going to treat the tires tomorrow, but won't bring it to the track. Instant trip to the gate. We'll get it hooked up one way or another.
Jim, thanks for the heads up on the trailer. I heard a rumor about trailers being permitted this year.
