Swanson Chips for 00' L
Swanson Chips for 00' L
I have a 00' L and have it equipped with a JL tuned Diablo Chip. I've heard however that the Swanson Chips by Danny Swanson are the best out there when combined with the Pro-M setup. I was just wondering if this was at all accurate, or what the rest of you guys think the best chip out there is. Any feedback concerning the Swanson chips is welcome, as well as Diablo, Dyno's and such.
When using any MAF other than stock, you have to correct the calibration by inserting the new flow data for the new meter. This applies to the 90mm as well as the Pro-M. Many companies "compensate" for different MAFs by correcting the a/f ratio, but all that does is give you right mixture. It does not correct the load tables, and over time, the new MAF can wipe out the transmission since the PCM uses load for about 90% of transmission outputs. Only Autologic software has the capability to insert the correct flow data in the calibration, no other chip company does this. Both Danny and myself use Autologic for our custom chips, so either one of us could make you a nice calibration for use with the Pro-M. I'm not big on the Pro-Ms, but I have spent much R&D on Pro-M calibrations. Danny however is a big fan of the Pro-Ms, and I know he programs his chips in the proper manner for them too. If you can get a dyno tune in house from Danny, I'd say go for it.
Well i believe it because Jeff and me race with ib fast all year long and Greg has ran consistant high 12's in 75-80 degree air with these mods that i know of:
Swanson chip
Pro-m 80
Throttle body
E.T Streets
Thats it no pullies or convertor when he was running those times!

I have run the Pro-M and a Swanson custom chip for about 25,000 miles now.
I am close to Danny's shop, so it is easy for me to optimize the combination on his Dynojet.
So far, I have made 377 RWHP with a Pro-M and Swanson Chip, with NO other mods. Recently, I added a 2# PSP pulley, and have maxed out at 385 RWHP. This was all done on 91 octane gas as well.
I haven't had a chance to run the 1/4 mile since adding the 2# pulley, but I'm down to 8.35 in the 1/8.
Fontana opens on the 12th, and I'm going to try to run some 12's with my 40,000 mile truck.

Hi Jay, Saw your L in the Sport Truck magazine article "Lighting vs. The World" along with Lynn Guthrie's... It said in the article you were running a Swanson Chip, Granatelli MAF, and Traction Bars and you were running low to mid 13's....With just the Pro-M and Swanson Chip, you know what 1/4 your running? Just curious..
With the Pro-M and the Swanson chip only, I've run a best of 13.73. That was at Carlsbad Raceway, on a slippery track in about 85 degree weather. That was on F-1's as well.
It's tough to run well at the tracks around here. You either have high altitude and decent traction (LACR) or great air and lousy traction (Carlsbad). Irwindale hooks pretty well, but it's only 1/8 mile.
Fontana opens on the 12th, and I'm going to make a maximum effort to run 12's there. You must make your runs before noon, or you run on all the hard rubber layed down by the import guys.

Well boys, i have the slip and so does lightning jeff as i was racing him at the time.High roller witnessed me do 4 out my 6 12's in a row right after he did his first 12's run ever at this same track. Mods were swanson chip bought through the mail, ford t/b made by me, et streets, bassani headers, 373 gear and cat back. There were no pulleys then and i beleive sixpipes was running a tength fast than me with a swanson chip and a pro-m. I of course had my spare, hitch and some times with my tail gate removed for some of the twelves runs. I also saw a couple of other trucks run 12's with other brand chips before the pulley era. I beleive there were only a handfull of L's doing 12's without juice or pulleys ect1.5-2 years ago and only one in the 11's[high risk] who i saw run at the L vs r/t shootout at milan.Remember a lot of this has to do with track conditions and elevation ect.Would have answered sooner but i have been in the hospital the last few days. I would like to say that no one b'ses on these boards, but i don't know everybody.I do know that high roller and lightning jeff do not b.s. My best run ever was done in 60 degree air with a 1.84 60 ft 12.79 108.97 all the other 12's runs were 12.8s and 12.9s and i never did better than 13.0s at any other track out of 9 different tracks in three states.
