Cool Lowering project 1/2 done.

The front end is done. C-notch and hangers up next. The front was dropped with Hotchkis springs and Western Chassis lower A-arms. Check the link for further info.

Very nice Rob. Is that your truck shop? I take it your in the trucking business since I see truck tires and wheels in the background. If you ever need any late model trucks and trailers shoot me an e-mail.

Hey Rob, by looking at your other photos over in NLOC it looks like the lowered A-arms are DJM brand. They must have the same grey powder-coating and red bushings.

SVTROBG,

Which A-arms are those? Are the worth 2in drop? Did they install with no modifications?

J.D.,

I bought both the DJM & Western Chassis A-arms. I ended up using the Western Chassis arms. I was just more impressed with the build quality of the W.C. parts. They are 4130 chromoly compared to the mild steel DJM counterparts. However, the DJM arms are a direct bolt in the W.C. arms are NOT. Check this out ...

The rear bushings on both sides had to be shimmed. Also, the sway bar will have to be moved forward as the mounting points don't line up. But besides these minor setbacks I have to say that the ride is absolutely fantastic with these arms and shocks.

SVTRobg,

Do you still have the DJM arms that you did not use? Are both the DJM & WC a 2in drop? Where did you get the parts needed to modify the WC arms to work??

If you have the DJM arms & dont need them & they are 2in drop, I may be interested in buying them from you!!!

Richard,

Both the DJM & Western Chassis arms are a 2" drop. I got the washers at a local hardware store and I'll probably work on the sway bar fix tomorrow.

The DJM parts are going on another truck. Sorry.

Western Chassis = $370.00
DJM = $360.00

The WC arms came from Sport Truck Direct and the DJM stuff came from Stylin' Concepts. If you want to buy the WC stuff let me know, they actually have 2 different part #'s for the F-150's.

Here you can see the differences between the 2 brands.

Look's great, you are doing such a good job with your truck, I'm sure it is the envy of many here. Keep up the great work.

SVTRobG,

I saw in the post on NLOC that the DJM do not have new ball joints. Can you reuse your old ones or do you need to buy aftermarkets ones with the DJM arms?

If your stock ball joints are in descent shape reuse them. The Western arms came with brand new ones. A word of caution if you use the DJM arms, take ALL of the paint off that surrounds the pocket where the ball joint will be pressed in. Top, bottom and inside. It will make the install of the retaing clip MUCH MUCH easier.

P.S. I just got done measuring the truck. The lower control arms provided only 1" of drop with the Hotchkis springs.
