Just wanted to know if they are interchangable.

I would also like to know if they are exactly the same, not just interchangeable. Heads, cams, valves, etc.

The 5.4L head assemblies as used on the Lightning (and all 5.4L engines EXCEPT natural gas versions) and the 4.6L Mustang since '99 are all identical.

Anything prior to '99 is different...they will bolt on but aren't the PI (power-improved) style of head.

look for Neal, I think he knows the most about these new modular heads on this message board. He can and has answered this question, many more. But what DrTriton said was correct.

If that is the case, doesnt SVO make an improved head for the Mustang GT? Can that head be used in a Lightning application? Wonder what the results would be if you could... Thoughts?

Talking

Better than that Sam, I have found some ported heads already done up. You can choose from either Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3

One would have to ask then, would it be practical or possible to interchange with a 4V Cobra or Cobra R head? Would the power gain (if any) be substantial?

Jeff, when Windsor was building both the 4.6L Mustang engine and the 5.4L truck engine back in '99, both used the same cylinder head assembly part # (same cams, valves, springs, etc.).
