2001 fog light bulb replacement?

Okay I know this has been covered, but still no definitive answer

I realize the online store modifies wizard 55 watt bulbs to fit the 01 lightning fogs

but will the 9005 and 9006 work also?
and if so can I go bigger than 55 watts

The PIAA 9005 is a direct replacement. 60W as I remember. Try this site. http://store.yahoo.com/rodi/xxx19600series.html

I found some Nokya 9005 100W bulbs. Will these directly swap with the 2001 fog lights? How about the wattage, is it too high and could it possibly melt my housing? Thanks.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..

ok.. there is a trick that I found out with these bulbs. LOTS of research for my friends and neighbors.

There is 3 different bulbs that replace fog lights.

893. 9005.. 9006

Most commen is the 9006. But sometimes you hear this 9145 number.

well that 9145 is either a 9005 or 9006. How do you find out? Easy.

Pull out the old bulb. You will see the two prongs where the bulbs connect in the socket. About the prongs you will either see two guide lines or one.

If it is one guide line it takes a 9006. If its two guide lines. Its a 9005.

Heh.. pretty easy after all.

If your looking for bulbs. Here you go. www.showparts.com

Hope this helps you out.

I would be careful with those 100W bulbs. Somebody posted here a while back when I upgraded mine to PIAA Superwhite's. He had a set of higher wattage bulbs and it discolored (burned) the dome in the lens, and had to buy new foglights. The PIAA's are great!!! Lots of visability, but no blueish tint. Hope this helps.

Has anybody with an 01 run a higher wattage bulb, like a 100W to 135W with these new lenses? I ran a 135W in my 99 with no problems except in the rain, solution was NOT to run the fogs in the rain

White Knight, it is not true that 9145's are really either a 9005 or a 9006. The 9145 is it's own bulb, even lower power than the 9006 with a similar "low beam" pattern. The 9145 has the same connector as the 9005/9006, but is only 42W, versus 55W for the 9006, and 65W for the 9005.

I have the same ? as Fast Gator: If any of you have run 100W bulbs or greater with the 2001 fog lights? I just installed some Nokya 9005 100W in my 2001 fogs and they look beyond spectacular! They have a very, very slight blue tint and the light that they put out is incredible. However, I would like some input on those that have had longer experience with greater wattage bulbs than myself. I have not run my fogs for long trips, but in the short trips that I do take, I noticed that the fogs get very hot. Any input would ge great. Thanks.

Question 2001 FOG LIGHTS

I have a 2000 L and I have recently had to replace bumper and foglights so I bought a 2001 bumper and fog lights due to a recent run in with a dog in the road. So what I was wondering what is the highest wattage bulb you can run without over loading the wiring harness or the switch in the dash?? Or melting the plastic covers on the fog lamp?? And what is the factory wattage of the fog lamps?? Any help would be appreciated thanks!!

Thanxxxx,
Ryan
