Question Powerplant engineering question

Is the power loss associated with running an air conditioning compressor too great to consider turning our intercooler into something like an a/c evaporator? It seems to me that an evaporator would cool the intake air much better than just a radiator.

I think that has gone through many people's head at one point or another. Though I dont know much about an A/C system and how you would use it in the I/C, in theroy it could be done. The biggest problem I see is condensation and getting water on the track.

You can't get more out of something than you put in. Sorry. The present I/C setup would be better than using an a/c compressor to run R134 thru the I/C. That would be like trying to use a 5hp motor to do 30hp worth of work. Ain't gonna happen. Basic physics.

Doesn't basic physics tell you that a 4700 lb pickup truck CAN'T run the 1/4 mile in less than13 sec's????????? No flame, just that I skipped school during that class

Lightning Boy and I live in Texas. Between getting tossed off the track for condensation leaking, loss of HP by turning the compressor AND most important taking the chance of screwing up the AC youll NEED for the ride home .... IMO it isnt worth it
