Got a 'technical' question...about 'unwanted' boost.
Forgive me, but I was lurking over at LS1Tech.com--on the 'High-Pressure' (boost) board yesterday. A thread caught my eye-'Check valve for PCV'--asking the question, "has anyone installed a check valve in the PCV line to keep boost from entering the crankcase?" It seems the LS1s that have added an ATI or Procharger supercharger are finding oil in the intake areas--sound familiar?
Their solution was to insert a brass check valve inbetween the intake and the PCV. Here's the 'technical' part---is boost entering our crankcases and therefore pressurizing it--forcing oil out the left cam cover and up in to the boot? If so, would a 'one-way'(redundant?) check valve stop the 'pressurizing'? If so, which way should the valve be installed---flow towards the intake, thereby eliminating flow[boost] towards the crankcase ?

Dan,
I believe the PCV IS a check valve. It's only when it's old and clogged that it won't seat and allow "bleeding". I remeber seeing a link on one opf the turbo boards about it. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Thanks Paul:
I ran a search for 'PCV check valve' on the turboford site and came up with a lot more info than on the Ls1 site. Those Ford guys are pretty 'checked'(had to do it) out.
I still hope some of the eng./boost gurus chime in......
