Lease vs Purchase Poll

Taking an unscientific poll here.

Bank bought it. As long as they get a payment every month, I get to drive it.

Bought ours with ten grand chash and the rest in check. The sales man droped his jaw when dad started to count off the money.

I rember buying was cheaper than leasing. I hope this thing has some kind of re-sale value when I'm ready.

I bought mine....well....the bank did anyway!!!!

I still have yet to understand why people would lease a vehicle??

1.) You are actually renting the car for a short time.
2.) You can't modify the car.
3.) And they go through the car with a fine tooth comb when you turn it in and then charge you for every thing wrong with it!!!

I do not understand what would make someone lease a vehicle??

I can only think of one high point.....you get to change you car/truck regularly without suffering the trade in blues......but thats all I can think of that is good about leasing!!

You would be suprised at how many people mod leased vehicles.I ran into a guy at the strip this summer with a gtp that was leased running 12.90 without the juice. I am sure there are L owners that have leased trucks that have lots of mods and run 12's..there just smart enough not to post about it.

I want to know why also. I've never leased or even investigated a lease. But, the only few advantages I see are...
1)a new car every few years (but what if you really like the car and want to keep it? How much would it cost you?)
2)Lower payment (I might be wrong here because it looks like a few have said monthly payments are more on a lease.)

Those of you that have leased anything, please explain the ideas of leasing. TIA.

Brett

You asked.

I leased my Mountaineer. I had a Ranger & the hubby had an F150. We decided we would need a family car sooner or later so we decided to figure out what I'ld want to drive. (I refuse to drive a minivan or any kind of car) I had planned on buying a new Mountaineer when my lease was up, but they went & made them ugly. So now I am going to lease again until I find something I'll be happy with for an extended period.

I bought mine with 8k down. I got 5.9% rate for 5 years. Hopefully I will pay it off in 4 years like my 97 f150.
