Thumbs up

I picked mine up 2 weeks ago and paid $219 for them and one of my friends called the same day as I did to a different discount tire and he only paid $165 for them!I called that place he ordered them from the next day and they said those tires jumped up to $229 already probably because they sold out of those tires so quickly.I was told the next batch they get in will be in february.

NICE!!! Now can we get a report on how well these tires hook up on the street? I wonder if there will be a noticable traction difference over the F-1's?

Cool

I am not putting my nittos on still spring but have been running the 17 inch nitto 315 drag radial for a few months now and on the street if you heat the f1's up a little they still spin alot and if you heat the nitto's up a little you get a chirp and your gone! The key is getting some heat to them right before you takeoff and they will work just fine for the street. When using my g-tech from 0-60 the best i have ran on street tires is 4.46 to a 4.07 with my drag radials so there is improvement at least on my truck. At the track I saw about 1 tenth improvement on average with them.

Question

Cal, what kind of pressure are you running on the street? Do you lower it at the track?

Discount Tire. (Did I say that?)

http://www.discounttiredirect.com

NT 555R Drag Radial
305/45R-18 110V B

I believe they are within 1/4" of stock F1 diameter. Not enough to matter.

I have no idea about air pressure at the track cuz I just got them. That is why they aren't on rims. Raining today so I cant give you an opinion yet. I intend to use them on the street because I use Hoosiers on 15" at the strip.

Red face

Well, I am running 28 psi in mine on the street, I don't know whether I should be running higher or not. And Caka, they are not taller than the F1s. According to my admittedly crude measurement they are 1/4" shorter, possibly because the tread depth is 6/32" as opposed to 8/32" on the F1s. Lets see, since the 45 is a percentage of the width, and 305 is 10mm more than 285, and 10mm is 0.394", 45% of 0.394 is 0.1773", which, assuming equal tread depth is how much taller the 555s should be. But since 8/32-6/32x2 = 1/8" or 0.125', the Nittos should be roughly 0.05" taller than the F1s, or almost within manufacturing tolerances. Why I measure them shorter, I don't know, maybe I am just a lousy measurer, but I know there is not a hell of a lot of difference between them.

Without looking @ tread depth . . .

295/45-18 = 28.45" tall (Stock)
305/45-18 = 28.81" tall
