Email From SHM:

Greetings,

Is that not a killer looking little package, or what? The cost of the transformation is $14500, with your blower, intake and drive system sent to us for modifying. The engine has the billet rods, forged crank, forged SHM pistons, ported cobra heads, and custom SHM camshafts. Unfortunately, the customer did NOT want the engine slapped on our engine dyno for preliminary Hp and Tq figures. With a proper tune up, the engine should see high 400 to low 500 RWHP. This is with the 6-8 psi boost that the stock blower pushes. If you installed a smaller blower pulley for more boost, which we offer, you would see 8-10 psi, which could push it to 525-550 RWHP. Sorry I can't offer you hp #'s, because I wish we had them! The customer is faxing in his dyno results as soon as he has them. We will post them on our web site as soon as we get them. Have a safe and happy holiday.

Regards

Scott

It seems like a waste of money.....You can achieve almost the same gains on the stock setup with a few mods here and there.

I don't know...that is a hefty price tag

i doubt it

first of all, i wouldn' t pay a dime for that unless it was hooked up to a dyno to see what it was pulling for numbers

second, correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't believe anyone is putting 550 rwhp out of their modified lightnings. Sal's head's nearly flew off trying to push 10's from what I understand. Unless i've misundestood alot, no ones is putting these kind of numbers without any type of major structural rebuilds on their motors. Sure is a pretty piece though!!!! Think I could shove that in sideways in my girlfriend's ZX2? Probably floor it and pull the car right up on a nose stand!! Woo hoo

If I had the funds to throw that kind of money around for mods, the chances of me throwing it at a pickup would be slim. I'd be driving a 'vette and John Lingenfelter would be my new best buddy.

There are guys out there that are doing well enough that they would put as much consideration into buying this motor, as most of us put into buying a new pulley or a second chip. More power to them I say. If I were a man of means, I would have people all around me scratching their heads and trying to figure out why I need all those toys in the garage, in the drive way, in storage.........Get the picture?

If you gotta ask why, you probably wouldn't understand anyway!

It is almost a sin to put the stock blower on an engine of that type. It will certainly be the limiting factor in how much HP that engine makes. From what I've read, the new aftermarket blowers will be capable of 20+ PSI boost pressures...put one of those on there and you'll begin to really see that thing come alive.

For those of you that are Canadian like me, here's a little math for you (please be seated)...

$14.5 K US converted to Canadian at the latest exchange rate comes to $23000. Oh, and don't forget to give the government 15% for taxes...that'll come to $26450 please. Exhaust system, custom tuning, wiring harness mods, etc, etc, that'll be extra..............

This guy posted the same thing at least twice over at the corral.net (a Mustang enthusiast web site) using the name 01SilverL. Don't know if he's any better over here but we consider him a troll over at the corral. Somehow I doubt he owns a Lightning.

In my opinion, if you had 26k (canadian) to burn on a mill, why play with 330ci when you can build a blown 500ci dart big block for the same $$$ and make some big horsepower!!!! Lets see how strong those aluminum driveshafts really are.

Unhappy

I have a hard time believing any of this, this same pic was posted over at world. The poster said it was built up by his buddy, after many long hours of modifications and tweaking. WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THIS ENGINE!!??,,,,98
