Unhappy boost gauge at vacc

I got my intercooler recall done about a month ago and noticed that when the truck is on, the boost guage is on vacc. When i give alot of gas it will jump in the boost range, when let off gas, it drops back to vacc. After i turn the engine off the guage slowly moves to zero boost. Turn it on and back down to vacc. No SVT dealership here so don't want rely on them. Anything will help. thanks

ps: sorry for the old name, havent updated it.

This is totally normal.

Alot of people are suprised at the small amount of time their engine actually spends making boost. When you floor it, you should see 8-10 psi of boost over 3000 rpm (if your L is stock with the intercooler upgrade).

You will also notice that your engine makes more vacuum when you slow down using the engine than you do at normal idle. Typically 17-19 in/Hg is the normal idle vacuum, but decel vacuum could hit over 20 in/Hg. This depends on your altitude, but you should see numbers similar to this.

Hope this info helps you out.

Later,

I have run an extra hose to the boost/vac line, and frequently tidy up the carpet and seats while cruising.

Mine runs 11 inches at 65 mph. Boost spools up quicker. Vacuum at idle is the same as stock.
