Question Shifting question

Whats up everyone, Until I got the Lightning all my other so called sports cars and beaters were either 4 or 5 speed manual transmission. I've had my L for about 6 months and I am not to knowledgable on how to get the max performance, either on the strip or street, with the automatic transmission. I've pretty much drove around in Drive and never even messed around with 1 or 2. Someone posted a couple of sick vids on their white L and one was of the dash and the RPM needle was definately higher then I've ever seen mine go. On one of the vids, you can even here the L grab 2nd as it takes off down the street. I just dont want to break anything so a little advice before I play would definately help me out. Thanks alot in advance.

I just put the hammer down in drive and let the L shift when it wants to!

As far as spinning the tires when shifting, that won't happen unless you get a chip to eliminate the 1-2 shift torque reduction, or "fart" as it is sometimes called. But that is hard on the tranny.

Rhino:

Just leave it in Drive whether racin' or commutin'. Turn the overdrive 'off' at the track. It will get quicker as it breaks in but 01 is correct about gettin' a chip to firm up the shifts and to run even quicker.

Dan

(for 01--How's it goin' S?)

Shifting the gears yourself is a good way to blow the engine.

Do the valve body mod. I got the Factory Tech one. I love the fast crisp shifts. It's easy to put in!

Or you can do either a shift kit or a line mod valve and not worry abut what the chip will do. Either of the above will give you that bark during the 1-2 shift even with the preprogrammed factory cylinder cut-out. Ahhh...what the heck, get a chip and a shift kit/line mod and don't just bark them during the 1-2...smoke 'em!
