2001 Armests are different colors
2001 Armests are different colors
I've had my '01 for 8 months now. Never before had I noticed this, but the door armrests are different colors. One is a light grey, and the other a very dark grey. They must have run out at the factory that day or something. Weird. What color are they supposed to be? One matches the textured leather on the door/seat inserts (dark); and the other matches the door panel (light).
I had the same problem. I had a light colored one on the passenger side and didn't notice it until about a month ago. It kinda pi$$ed me off, too. I went to the dealer and they told me that it was a special edition that would one day be worth a lot of money and I should really try to hold onto it. Cool right!?
A week later I was in Michigan visiting my sister. I was bragging to her husband about my special edition L and he wanted to see it. Well, he works for Ford and said I was full of ***** and that he couldn't believe I fell for that crap.
Well, after cutting my visit short because my brother inlaw suffered a black eye from a "door"
, I was on my way out of Michigan, when I saw another 01 sitting at a nice restaurant. I just pulled in and whipped out the slim-jim. 5 minutes later I had matching armrests and was making tracks for the state line.
I don't know if that was you or not. If it was, I'd just like to say.... THANKS!! You should really use a little armor-all now and then though. It was a little dry and crusty when I got it. Looks good now though!
