you need to firmly have your foot on the brake,, if anything happens and you aren't sure your doing it right, try to practice more of a wetter pavement so that way you are less likely to wear out your tires as fast, i reccomend to find a parking lot somewhere to practice, dont do it too much though, police will hear it and come running if they are near by .

Exclamation Holy Cow

I honestly never thought I would see this as a topic in a lightning forum....oh well I guess there is a first time for everything.
If you were at the track did you have ET Streets or slicks on. If so you have to make sure they are wet. If you only had on your F1's and couldn't do a burn out.......then
TAKE THE KEYS OUT OF THE INGITION AND STEP AWAY FROM THE TRUCK!!!!!!

What they are tellin' you

is, you don't do burnouts on F1s! It will not help you(and probably will hurt) in getting lower ets. They are not made to 'heat up'.

Secondly, I believe it was Sal thought that told me to not do burnouts(I have M/T Streets) in first gear. The eng. revs too high while the tires don't get going fast enough--or somethin' like that .

i disagree it helps to do a burnout on f1's get all the junk and any excess water off them. i just do a 2-3 second burnout then roll out of it. i was cutting a 1.85 60's on f1's sat at cecil...

why

If your truck is Hooking that good why in the world would you want to do a burn out in the first place, just be happy and when you get a few more miles on the tires you'll be doing rolling burn outs on the highway, I promise.

Smile Clearification

I think it needs to be clearified that "burnouts" are no good on F1's. But a quick rollout to clean the tires off is always good.

let me clarify i don't realy do the burnout to heat the tires up or anything just spin them for 2-3 seconds and roll out of it a little to get excess water or junk that accumulates on your tires

Correct. On F1's you dont want to do a burnout, just a quick dry-hop.

Question

Umm, im not to clear on what someone said about not to keep your truck in first gear while doing a burnout b/c : the eng. revs to high while the tires don't spin fast enough. Can someone please make some sense of that?

In first gear the truck's gear ratio will spin the tires slower per engine RPM when compared to the same RPM in second gear. Another words do a burnout in second to spin the tires faster all while putting less stress on your engine due to lower engine RPM's.

Did that help.........Joe
