No way!!!!!

My brother just got a 02' Chevy Silverado 6.0L with a Whipple Supercharger.

He said, Lightning, been there, beat that.

Is he right? Are they fast?

If GM is selling them like that, they sure are keeping them a secret. I can't find anything about it with a quick web search. The only way I would switch to a GM performance truck project, is if they can do it normally aspirated with more or equal power than I'm putting down now. They'd have to keep the price and production numbers down. They would also have to rethink the approach they took with the 454SS and design the vehicle as a sport truck instead of a regular pickup with unmanageable power. (No hook-up at all!)

I bought an 02 Chev last month with the 5.3. (the 6.0 is only offered in the 3/4 ton.) GM does not offer any kind of supercharged truck from the factory. So I bought mine and the next week it had a whipple sitting on top. Right off the showroom it went 15.2 at 90. We are still having some tuning issues but whipple says it will make 415 horse when it is done. I am looking for low 13's out of it.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT BOUGHT LIGHTNING

I HAD A 99 SILVERADO WITH A 5.7 LS1 AND A WHIPPLE IF IT EVER MAKES ENOUGH HP TO COME CLOSE TO THE LIGHTNING THE TRANSMISSION WILL BREAK ON THE FIRST PASS

IF HE HAS A STOCK WHIPPLE AND STOCK MOTOR HE HAS NO CHANCE

Courtesy Chevrolet in Scottsdale, AZ markets a truck they call the Thunder. I do not know which engine it is, but it is whipplecharged at the dealer. It also comes with a warranty.

My understanding is that it is a low to mid 14's truck and comes in around 40K.

The "sport truck" magazines have been hearalding it as a Lightning killer, but none have gotten times out of one anywhere close to beating a stock L. Of course they would love it, it is a GM, and they are GM people.

This is the closest that GM comes to having a sport truck right now.

If he had one of these, I would have been a believer. They are bada$$ed and only use the 4.8L engine. The 5.3 is available also. Money is an issue with this aftermarket vehicle though.

Load of crap...

As the Automan stated, the 6.0 is only available in the 3/4 ton Chevy. It weighs 500-600 lbs. more than the L & on the Whipple website their S/C 6.0 makes 302 RWHP. Do the math, 500 extra lbs. 50+ less RWHP, the Chevy's getting slammed every time.

The story changes...

The truth is, he ran an L in the 1/4 mile & when the race was over he could still see the L, barely...

When are they going to learn

Lightning ALWAYS comes before Thunder!

Always has, always will........
