Has anyone removed the sliding rear window?

Is there anyone who has removed the sliding rear window in the L and replaced it with straight glass? if so, any pics? Is it possible to put a power roll-down window in an L?

thanks

rear glass

I have replaced the glass with some high quality surranrap and duck taped it on. Looks real clean.

I personally do not like sliders they don't look clean, the smooth solid window cleans up the back of the truck up alot. Save the sliders for the aluminum sided campers. Which I hope you don't have.

Here are a couple of pics of my solid window installed. It is a Ford window with the privacy tint and I had the window tinted with limo black. Don't know about the roll down part.

CrazyFoo,
Purchased genuine Ford window at the dealer. Get to the counter, ask the guy price and availability, he tells me it's like $950!!! I freaked! I said give me a break, $950 for a frikin piece of glass. He agrees that is rediculous. He says hold on here; he punches up something on the computer and says, I have one in the back that a customer ordered and doesn't want, I can let you have it for $125. I immediately said sold! Apparantly the $950 has gone up to like $1050 since I bought it, so some searching is in order if you want to buy one.
Had an automotive glass shop install it for $75. I do most of my own work, however I never replaced glass. Looking back on it, it is something that one could do on there own. Some of the rear interior panels must be pulled then remove all the nuts, then have 2 guys on the inside push out the glass while someone on the outside is holding it. Be sure to remove all residual sealant. Install new window, and before reinstalling interior panels, spray the outside perimeter with a hose to ensure no leaks.

Hope this helps.

KGM,
When I want to throw beers in the back I drive my Vette and just throw them behind me.

BACK WINDOW

I had the duck tape and plastic on the back window there for a week had some kids here in the neighbor hood thought they needed my stereo equipment more than i did. Got to loud but made it easy to get the beer cans out though!! I had to break down and get it replaced, but no power window. Sorry.

J15big, do you have any pics of that "breezer" you speak of? I would love to see it. I've thought about the power window also. I wish some of these people on here with loads of cash would try it.

Just find a fellow F150 owner with a plain back window that wants the slider and trade. you only pay labor that way.

If anyone that replaced your rear slider wants to sell it let me know. I am going to be putting a roll bar in mine, and would rather cut up a used one and keep mine if I ever want to go back to stock.

Thanks
Don
