Major engine problem? (Long)
Parked my truck for about a week and it was fine the last time I drove it. My dad got in it today to take it to have a tire replaced for me while I was at work (worn tread from being out of alignment on the front). He said when he started it up it ran a little rough. It was missing a little, but he figured it was from sitting (nose pointed down hill) and all of the rainy weather we've been having. He said it just ran rough on the way to the tire shop, but on the way back it got worse and then the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. I'm figuring either one of the plugs lost an electrode, or the plug blew out of the head. It's too dark (no garage) to see anything right now. Any ideas? He said if you get to 40mph it gets really bad. Luckily we only live a few miles from the shop, so he brought it home and parked it. I started it up when I got home and it was idling a little rough (definite miss), I may try to reset the computer and then take it down the road real quick to see how it feels. I have no mods, so I'm really wanting to see what it is. I hope it's not raining tomorrow!

I had a slight miss on my '00L at around 8500 miles. Replaced the plugs, everything was ok. One of the original plugs had a very small pit in the electrode.
Start by resetting the computer, then check the plugs or just take in to dealer, better yet, do it yourself.
Good luck.

I'm hoping it's the plugs. But I don't know if I want to try to change them out myself or take it to the dealer so that in case it isn't the plugs they can just fix it. I may take it to my local dealer (I know all of the guys that work there and my buddy's dad owns the place) but it is not an SVT dealer. Any1 know if you get the free loaner from any dealer or does it have to be an SVT dealer? I hate letting other people work on my vehicles, but I also need the seat cushion fix, and fog lights fixed.

I take it you have an 01? The plugs would be the first things I checked. I had a slight miss in mine also and had 2 electrodes burnt off. I never got a SES light though. I would not do the job unless you had a garage or the weather is real good. You can most likely figure 3 hours for a first time try. I would drive it as little as possible until you check out the plugs. Good luck Jeff
