Question strange sound ??

Ok I put a chip, line mod in the trans and a deep pan, also a 90mm intake, 2# lower pully. My truck has 28,000 miles on it and is a 2000. I have a little rattling sound in the cab when it is gear at idle. If I give it some gas it stops and if it is not in gear it does not do it. Do I need to look in to the sound or is this normal.

Thanks for the help, Dave

Ya I have heard a few trucks did that when you put a pulley on it. Call your tuner, I beleve they can fix it by turning up the idle 100 rpms or so.

Sal (LightningTuner) made a post about this just the other day. I don't have time to do it now, but if you search for his name, you'll find it (it was no more than a week ago).

Basically, the rubber on the stock pulley dampens this sound. He said that when the blades aren't under "tension," they'll flop around a little and bang together. Sal gave the example of making a "C" shape with your left hand and make your right hand look like "-"...now put the right inside the left and move it up and down so it touches the top of the C and the bottom of the C. This is basically what the blades in the supercharger are doing and that's what's producing the sound.
