Thumbs up

Hey Brian,

I saw that last weeek when I ordered my upper blower pulley.

I like the fact that they are black coated, almost looks factory. Plus the price is cheap.

Isn't a 7.9" diameter more like a 2# increase?

Oops. Ok, I found the direct link:

http://www.autospecialties.com/ford.htm#ltruck

Interesting how in the instructions, they are like.. "Now you are ready for 4+ #s of Boost" Like thats not going to cause trouble without a chip. lol

Also, why do they list a different part# for 2001? I didnt know they changed anything.

I just spoke to ASP about that since I am the main distributor for those pulleys. They said they just redid thier website last week, and the web guy put up the wrong info. That whole section is messed up. The 7.9 pulley listed there is a 2 lb, and it should be $200, not $175, which is just for the pulley, no tools. That's the same price we sell them for if you buy without the PSP tool kit.

Hey Sal,

I was wondering when you were going to get in on this thread.

Those prices from ASP did look a little low. Plus I noticed they didn't include the proper tools for removal.

I feel your pain!

Jeff, I seriously hope you mean that in a joking manner. I called because I retail the pulleys for what ASP told me to retail them at, and manufacturers usually have higher prices to get customers to buy from thier distributors, so of course I had to call and find out the scoop.

For the exact reason that you jst described is why I said it. I figured it was something like that. It would be bad business for them to drop the prices below what you are retailing them for... why have distributors if your going to compete with them directly??

Ive been there, retailing Mustang parts in the past as www.stangonline.com.. thats what I meant by "I feel your pain"

Does this mean the PSP pulley is really an ASP pulley?

No I heard Sal mines the ore, and hammers them out himself on his anvil out in the back forty.

Thanks cali, I didn't know that . . .

Anyways, the reason I ask is because ASP is a very reputable name in the pulley business. If I would have known ASP made a pulley for my L, I would have probably looked there first, having good success with their products on my past two vehicles. (Blown 96 TA / 98 WS.6 TA)

Sometimes the name brand matters. If i sold watches for a living, I wouldn't rebrand and sell Rolex watches as FlashSVT watches. =)

Just my $0.02,

Wayne

I don't see what any of the fuss is about this, I personally would much rather buy from any of the reputable L Tunners on this board. I may use other websights to find info on products, but when i t comes down to it i trust the tuners who specifically work on an L, they have them themselves and would not settle for less quality in their own trucks, so i feel that that same quality goes into all of our trucks. I know lots about engineering and have learned a lot about mechanic work through good friends. But catch me if i know whats best for my L, i've never tested anything on it to come up with the best product. I applaud the time and effort these tuners take to find the best products for our truck so that i wont have to do half the research.

Labels are changed at every level of business, just look at the ford crown vic and the mercury grand marquis. I'd be willing to bet sal and other tuners did lots of research to find the best pulley to sell for the L and i am definately thankful of that.
