Question Heater Core failure?

I was looking at the alldata.com site and noticed that the 01 and 02 L's have a TSB on repeated heater core failures. Anyone have this problem? I don't but I was just curious.

Later,
Roger

'Old trick'......from time-to-time(especially during the summer months), turn the heater valve to red/hot. Supposed to cause coolant flow thru the system/heater core and prevents corrosion/pitting/holes in the core. But, I thought that I read a post that stated our Ls had no 'heater core'?

We sure do, but they work to a point though.

I have noticed that when it is -45*F, and the heater is on full blast, full hot, frost starts to form on the inside of the door windows. But thats more of an example of the insulaion in the truck I guess. And thats with the defrost mode on.

I have noticed that my heater doesn't seem to work very well. Also, I have noticed that it takes a while to warm up the engine in the L. Maybe I am more cautious with this truck than my last truck. I used to just get in start and GO with no concerns about the engine warm up time. Now, I kind of wait to really get into the throttle until the engine is warm.

Our trucks have full water flow thru the core all the time regardless of where the heater **** is at.
Pray that you don't have a core failure as the entire dash and a/c system has to come out of the truck to replace the core.

Was the tsb for the core itself, or for the blend door breaking? In 97 and up everything Ford the plastic blend doors are breaking because the stepper motor for the door over-opens or over-closes it. They have a new design that's reinforced.nd I don't know if they are putting them in the vehicles from the factory yet.
