If you're too young, I'd say "No."
If you were old enough, I'd ask "why are you asking me, you're a grown man."

Well then there is another way of looking at it. Does your dad really need to know? If you have the money... Find some garage time when your dad isn't home... See where im going? Yeah...
Really, some people are they way about vehicals (or anything for that matter). If it isn't broken, dont fix it...

No flame intended...but I say do what I did, and pay for it yourself. But if all else false, and you depend on mommy and daddy, then try it this way.
(Using the mods you listed)
Chip and 90 MM mass air:
This combo (stress the combo part) is not only completely safe, but also has more uses than performance. With a this combo it will improve shift firmness which will save life on the tranny clutchpacks, and it also utilizes all the unburnt gas, by efficiently burning it. . It'll increase my MPG, enigne longivity, and tranny longivity. Also tell him the extra air from the air meter cools the eninge down more, which also promotes a long engine life.
Pulley:
This will be a little harder.
All I can think of is, that it frees up weight from the engine, which takes away uneeded stress.

If this doesn't work, try subliminal messages (Hey, it worked when I was 10 and wanted a BB gun)
p.s. sorry for any misspelled words. just got out of class.
Also, if he wants to take a ride in my L, I'll be happy to show him what a few "mods" can do. And I can give him my experiences with warranty work and mods.

Well first: Are you the one paying/paid for the truck?
If so then take BB99's suggestions to convince Dad, and pay for the mods yourself.
If not I would do as Dad says and that way you'll get more value out of a trade for a Gen III.

Just come home with the truck modded, thats what I do. My dad said I couldn't mod the truck at all. Then I came home with the windows tinted and he liked it, then a chip, then lowered and so on. Start small work your way up, pay for it yourself, make sure he will like it and youre home free.
