Silverado SS......

My friendpurchased a Silverado Single Cab 6.0 Liter(27,440) and raced a 2000 Ford Lightning at the track. It ran a 13.95 and beat the lightning which ran a 14.1. It was a pretty impressive for a stock truck.Chevy has now made a (496 Block Silverado SS)(8.1 Liter, correct me if im wrong), So now shouldnt Chevy take the title as "The Fastest Factort made truck"?? They also have a "Corvette Truck" which also Hauls A**! Im a Ford Fan, but you have to give Chevy the credit, SVTRob has a photo of his 496 that he purchased, pretty nice truck.....

The 6.0L is only available in the much heavier 3/4 ton trucks, the lightest version is the reg cab long bed and runs high 16's stock. the 1/2 ton with the 5.3l 285hp is much faster. if this is true and he is running high 13's in a 3/4 ton he would need much more than a blower to do it.

That truck isnt STOCK. The L is still king of the trucks. Where do these guys come from? Geesh. A cousin has a truck that can run 12's, not stock. Big deal.

Look at what i found i never knew that Chevy was thinking of putting this beast in production 575 HP, 605 Torque
1/4- 12.88 Stock
0-60-5.55 seconds
This would be cool if Chevy decided to put this in production they already have one available that can be ordered as I said previoulsy, they will come out from underground as people start to buy them.....

"The likelihood of the Coolside II reaching production seems to be quite slim at this time. Apparently all effort is being directed to get the last truck we drove into production - the Silverado SS."

There's your answer in the last paragraph. 575 HP and can only turn a 5.55 0-60. Thats pathetic any ways. Doesn't exist. Concept vehicle.

Cool

This is the 496 SS built by Pro-Finish ( The fine folks who built my Shaker hood ) and it was a 1 of 1 project truck. It was just recently shown at SEMA. Pro-Finish took a 3/4 ton drivetrain, the 496 and Allison trans, and transplanted it into a 1/2 ton chassis. It
also has a custom 3/4 ton front end grafted to the 1/2 ton as well as numerous other custom touches I can't remember. This truck can give a Lightning a good run but a stock 6.0 Chevy ??? Not on this planet.

P.S. I still own my Lightning. No Chevy's in my driveway

If you want John Coletti's answer to the Chevy prototypes, check out http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/auto...d/coletti.html

He address the issue there.

The Chevy protos do bring up some interesting ideas though. Wouldn't AWD be awesome in a L be awesome! I know that there are drawbacks, mainly due to weight, but as Coletti states in the above article, if you had any more power, AWD would probably be the way to go.

The manual transmission is a neat idea also.... if we can just make it a short throw shifter.....

As far as one of the Chevy protos making it into production... I doubt it right now. Chevy isn't doing so hot in the sports car area right now. That is why the Camaro is going bye-bye! Why would the start selling a sports truck? Especially when they know that the L is the number 1 truck!

Even if Chevy did start this truck into production, and it is able to best the L, I think Coletti and his team have an answer waiting... I think they are waiting on just the right time to release it.
