Whoa!!!

What's this!

Super Stallion

The massive 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine is designed to run on petrol, ethanol or any combination of the two, thanks to a clever microchip in the engine's management system. Running on a heady mixture of these fuels, the super-tuned engine produces 590bhp and 672Nm of torque at 4,750rpm.
Can someone convert that to american measurements?

I wansn't sure if 590bhp was 'base horse power' or 'british horse power'. got it from UK site. And the Nm of torqe, what is that related to our S/C 5.4.

Basicly I was wondering if this was the engine in our L? So I thought, naaa, it must be different measurment. But seems to be what I read it as, 590 HP! From a Supercharged 5.4L (331ci) Ford engine. WAIT! then mine's broken. I only get 380. What tuner designed that chip.

Also, I didn't think there was a manual transmission available?
Then just select any slot in the short throw six-speed gearbox

bhp=brake horsepower=horsepower at the crank

1 newton meter=0.737562 pound foot

So 672 NM=495.64 LB FT

Thumbs up Sweet ride

That car has been out for a long time, I saw it in a mag a while ago. And I actually got to see it at the Woodward Dream Cruise upclose. Really trick looking....there is plexiglass in the trunk so you can see the IRS. And the entire engine compartment is chrome......oh BTW it sounds AWESOME. I was near it when Coletti got in and fired it up

So what's the difference between our 5.4 and that 5.4? Chip only (doubtful/hopeful)? If so, that'd be great, but 'to good to be true'. It seems like it might be and oversized mustang. Aren't they (showing my ingorance) DOHC where as our 5.4 is SOHC? Short rods compared to long rods, etc.?

IOW, what's keeping our engines from putting out these numbers?
