Yes the cold air can lean the truck out and cause some pinging. I was having the same problem, the octane booster was fixing mine but I think I fowled some plugs using that. I am waiting on the Maillady now with the new denso plugs to see if the pinging just took out my plugs or if there is something more serious wrong!!!! Send it to JL and let him reburn it for you!!!

What brand gas are you using? Mine did the exact same thing when it gets cold out(usually 60 deg. and below). I also thought it was the chip. I had been using Exxon for years and had heard on this board that it was a low power fuel. So I tried a tank of the Texaco 93 Supreme. BAM!! Problem was gone. It has yet to detonate with the Texaco even at 25 deg. so far!!! And mine was detonating really bad. So if your using Exxon or some no name brand, stop using it and try Texaco,Shell,Mobile, or something of the like before sending your chip in for a reburn. If you change fuels and it still detonates, I would send the chip in asap. Detonation can do nasty things to the engine! Hope this helps.
