Question Lightning myths

I'm new to the Lightning and truck experience, so please bare with me here.

I've been told from several friends that Lightning's have a Posi rear-end. I'm thinking not. Mostly do to the fact that most of the grab on a launch occurs on the right hand side. Anyone know for sure?

Also, guys at my non-SVT dealer say the engine is Ford's new 351. But I always thought it was a 350. A 351 engine is a 5.7L, is it not?

Just asking for a little help in getting the facts staight. Thanx in advance.

The engine size is 340 cubic inches. which is a 5.4 litre. It replaced the 351 which was a 5.8 litre.

The engine is a 5.4 liter V8 its the same one as in all the other fords with the 5.4 V8 except for some internal upgrades and the supercharger and a specialized transmission. 5.4 liters is a 327 i think. It has a sold rear axile

It's a limited slip diff or posi.

The engine is a 330 c.i. motor, or 5.4 liter.

Also if you slam your foot on the gas pedal, once you start moving turn around and look at the 2 black strips you just left. That will show you that you have posi-traction.

zl:

It has limited-slip--sometimes doesn't always 'work', but it has it. The eng. is a modular 5.4L motor which equals 330ci. Of course, they run like raped apes because of the eaton supercharger .

Alrightz,
Listn up boyz n girrrlz. Time to set thez mithz strait. Half of u people got half the idea. Tru it usez blu ovals 5.4L, which is 330 ci - do the math ) however that be jus the startn bloc. They they bored it out to the 5.7L our friend Zeus Lightning had heard. This made the walls to thin, that be why they pouder coted them, make em thicker. They also increased the exhaust valve, cause you know, your exhaust is 95% of phat daddie HP increases (you smart onez know where im going with this ) Az 4 the rear end, you might have herdz it cause it posi-tivily b!tchn. They even lighend the phat rear by puttn thos lighter stronger shafts (yeah baby, you girlz know) that you see on the quick RAV 4, the lil sis to my wacked out SS Neon.
I hop this be anserin yo questinz. now happy cruizn and pece out.

The 2nd gen Lightning uses Ford's 5.4L triton motor. It has a 9.75" limited slip live rear axle. The 99's and 00's came with 3.55 gears, and the 01's and 02's come with 3.73 gears.

It was the 1st gen Lightning that used the 351.

Yes, Ligtningboy is exactly right. If you want to get complete technical, with the positive dispacement eaton M112 S/C, (Thats a 112ci 1.8l) your engin is actually 442 ci. and thats not 4 barrel, 4 speed, 2 wheel drive either
