Sounded like a lifter tick or exhaust leak on the passenger head. They tried to blame it on fuel injector noise but I am more mechanical than that! Then at 100mph and full boost it blew out and made a horrible open header sound So I shut it down and coasted off the highway. Started it back up and found the coil pack, boot and plug laying on the intake. So I unplugged the coil pak and fuel injector to that cyl. and drove to a safe place to de-mod and wait for the tow truck

L8 APEX - if my memory serves, a couple of the blown spark plugs and even a few failed rods that have been posted occurred when people where doing over 100mph in 3rd gear.

Yeah, one of them I know local launched #3 at 140 and it damaged something in the bottom end no knocking just ran like crap when they put it back together. So he gets an 02 motor.

Marvelous photographs!

Disgusting trouble!

Makes me nervous about trying to keep Nick for the 10 years planned -- especially since Ford couldn't get the head gasket right on our 95 Windstar.

Haven't they been using bolts and other threaded things for several years now (grin)?

Must be rocket-science (then again Morton Thiocol couldn't get O-rings right either).
