2001 Overhead Console Replacement
Hi,
I just got a 2001 Silver Lightning last week. I am planning on doing something I've seen a lot of people do to their vehicles but I haven't seen it done to a Lightning. I just got an X-box and what I want to do is put about a 7" widescreen display where the overhead console is and hook that gaming console up to it. The problem is, the roof has an area cutout for the stock console to fit to the roof. I just can't get any type of overhead display. I've only been able to find a console kit for an Excursion, but they are too long because they are adapted to have the rear air control on it.
If anyone knows where I can find an overhead console that supports a TV screen and the compass and temp gauge and that will fit into the hole cutout for the stock console, please let me know. If I can't find an overhead, I guess I will have to spend $1200 on an in-dash display. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i was also considering an overhead console for my 2001 but decided against it because i thought it would be easier on the neck to look straight ahead instead of up. so i decided to go in dash. when it comes to electronics i go all out so i went for the kenwood kvt-910dvd. kind of pricey, 2200, but well worth it. i cant get pics now cuz im about 400 miles away from my home(where my L is) so i will post em either tomorrow or tues.

Well, as of now, I have a Pioneer DEH-P9300R that is brand new, in the box with the plastic still on it. I'm selling it for $540 and and putting the $450 I have saved for the screen together to buy an Alpine CVA-1006 w/ the brain from a friend of mine who has it in his '99 Mustang GT (the one that beat me, only with the 150 shot nitrous though). He is selling it to me for $900 so I'm putting that in along with the X-box. Hopefully should have all this done and ready just after Christmas for the show in Silver Springs on Jan. 12-13.
