As far as I know the programmer lets you set the rev limit, shift points, and a couple of other things. Not too familiar with it, but all my f-body rivals have them. I dug it out of them, and they tried the lame old "Yeah I got it to adjust for my 3.73s only" Regardless, they still had the programmer, and until they learn to utilize all the functions, too bad for them. But dont try to pass that line on me.

If it weren't for the lightning specific tuners we all know. The Hypertech unit is the way I would go. I've used them on all of the GM vehicles I've had with no complaints and no problems. The new units are upgradable for whatever mods you add and you can adjust for tire size without sending off your chip. Best thing of all, you just plug them into the diagnostic port and upload straight to the computer. When you go in for service you can change it back to stock in about 5-10 minutes. If I could have found a tuner that made programs for the Hypertech unit....... Oh well, that's not going to happen. Don't get me wrong, the Lightning specific tuners are the way to go. Without doubt.

I'm interested to see just what the thing can do. If it can do what a chip can and switch back to stock in 5 - 10 minutes then I will be walking around like this all day.

Hey don't shoot the messenger and I'm not a salesman, I don't know the specifics. Just thought that some might be interested. I was put on a list to be notified about a year ago, before I got my Superchips' chip. So just letting those that haven't decided on a chip yet know. Later.....

I had the hypertech for my 99camaro SS and if it works the same as for the gm stuff one plus is you will not have to scrape the goo off your pcm and the dealer will never know you messed with the programming.

But on the GM it was basicly just a gear change tool and let you set the temp your fans came on so you could change out the thermostat to a lower temp the "performance programming" was basicly no help to most people if you do a seach on ls1.com you can judge for yourself from all the feed back. You will find a few that saw some improvment but the masses will say the performace gain was very little.

They aslo claim that gm actualy did an awsome job on the computers for the ls1 that is why the hpp did not do much for the cars.

One big minus is if your battery goes dead or if it looses connection while programming the car you might be SOL and need to get your computer reprogramed from the dealer, but it is suposed to recover.Several LS1 owners have had to get a reflash from the dealer. This never happend to me and I used it to program on my car at least 10-12 times I just had to keep trying as much as I spent on it it SHOULD have improved my times at the track heheheh

can u use the programmer with a chip? for example, if your chip has the rev limiter set that same as stock can you change it temporarily untill you turn your car off then the chip will reset everything to its own configuration when you turn the car back on? most likely this will not work but it would be cool if it did.
