Question Headers for My Lightning

Do I have to find L specific headers for my 2000 or will regular late model 5.4l headers fit? I can't seem to get a straight answer from the speed shops. Any input would be greatly appreciated aswell as any experiences anyone has had installing them. And of course, are they worth it in the performance department? I already have aftermarket exhaust.

Unless you go for long tube headers you will not get any noticable power gains.

from what i understand being on this board a long time. you are wasting your money with headers. the consensus seems to be , chip, filter, and pulley. headers dont create any measurable gain.

L/al: Don't tell Totaled headers don't help--they do make a difference after you have done the c/f/p mods--and, maybe a throttle body.

krz: If you get headders, get them from one of the Lightning tuners. These guys know what they are talking about--they race their Ls too. I wouldn't touch a non-L headder--oh, do what Don said--get the long-tube Lightning headders--they do produce additional power. If I can 'find' the $$, I'm getting some too.

I have a set of long-tubes for sale.

They are the same ones that TOTALED has. Also have 2 1/2" mandrel bent off-road exhaust to go with it along with a Magnaflow muffler. Top of the line exhaust. Came from Mike Reynolds. The reason why I am selling it is because I am ordering some long-tubes with larger primarys to match ported heads. The system I have now fits perfect if you have stock heads.
They are still in the box. Drop me an e-mail if you are interested.

My 99 came with Basanni headers, the previous owner installed them. Everything I have read says minimal, if any, power increase. They are good to make it sound good though. I wouldn't spend the $$ on it. I'd go with a chip, pullies, etc for sure power increases.

You spent $1600 without researching whether or not it was worth it?

01LightninBolt,

Hey it is only money and you can't take it with you. The $1,600.00 that you spent on the FULL BASSANI will make your truck sound great. I have the complete kit on my truck and it sounds great.

Bill
