I see no reason why this would not be covered. Both of my fog lights cracked so there is a problem with them. Good luck !!

Cracked foglights

Interesting. I thought I just had a rock chip that spread, with one of those lights. Then the next one cracked too. Now that there's more than just me, I should look into getting that done. So they will replace them under warranty without hassle? No tsb's or recalls on them? Found out that they cost like $120(CDN) for the whole foglight assembly. They apparently don't sell just the lens.

Talking

I have had one replaced. I was told it is caused by water on the hot plastic lense. Sounds like someone blowing smoke, but it might be true.

Miamiwhitesvtl--Yes they are as good as anyone, at least for small routine service or warranty items. They are an SVT dealer. For more complicated work, such as engine related items, I think Sawgrass Ford might have an edge over Maroone. One thing I do like is that they have a "safer" enclosed yard in case you need to leave the truck there for more than a day.

I purchased the truck over at Maroone, but Sawgrass is more convenient for me in terms of distance from home and work.....

thanks for the info............hey BTW, we should meet up at Tower Shops one day........don't know if you go there or not..........I am planning on going next Friday...

thanks,
JC

Sorry for the dumb question, but I've never owned a new car before...at least one covered by warantee.

Is there some kind of warantee issue number associated with claims? ..kinda like recall numbers?

The reason I ask is that I mentioned my cracked fog lights to the dealer. I also told him it seemed to be common. He tried blowing me off, and implied that the cracks were my fault. If I can show there's some sort of presidence for other dealers covering it, that would help.

Thanks,

-Kris

The fog lamps for 99 & 00 are made by Hella, I got replacement lenses from my local 4WD shop-I should've gone to Ford, but I'm just that kinda idiot!

They only crack when you drive with them on when it is wet, snow, raining because of differential heating of the lens. Pretty stupid since that is when you need them most. I haven't had a single crack since I quit using them in moisture conditions. If you insist on using them in those conditions, be prepared for lots of replacements! This is a very old topic that only us old timers remember!

I was thinking of replacing mine with 01 lamps, do any of you guys with 01's have any problems with cracking?
