Question A Quandary..

Just have to pass this on along to you. I posted something awhile back about finding oil in my air intake tube. Well, since then, I have read several responses about this problem I know what the reason is, I know what a lot of you have done to try to cure this. I even checked on a couple site sponsors. If I were to go with an air breather set-up to replace the oil filler cap, it seems that I would have to reprogram the computer to keep it from running lean...so I'm told.. I went to my Ford dealer service tech and ran it by him. He told me that old story about the warranty problems with mods. I told him that the K&N was the only mod I had. The service manager said that it too could cause a problem if I were to over oil the K&N filter. He said the oil could contaminate the TB sensor. My question to him was, how about the oil getting into the TB caused by the vaccum comming from the supercharger after WOT?? I took off the air tube and showed him the oil coating in it. It is even in the TB. Seems that he had no answer for that. He said he would look into that. I just love it when I'm told that (NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE) STUFF. a call to SVT and I was told not to fill the engine with too much oil. I'm just a little over 5 1/2 Qts. He asid it had to be between the top and the bottom xxxxxx marks. Wouldn't it be nice to get a straight answer???????

ofcgary,

I seen the same problem when I removed my boot. I researched it and indeed found that with the addition to the oil breather cap that the oil has not returned to this day.

I do not totally agree with shorting the engine oil, IMHO!!!

Okay so lemme get this straight.

Oil can mess up the TB sensor.
We put on a breather cap to stop the oil from getting there, and we void the warrenty.

Gotta love car companies.

Anyway I have a breather cap and I love it, it looks great under the engine hood.

Ok I have two chips, one is tuned for the breather cap and the other is not tuned for it.

When I sent my chip in for a reburn I put the chip that was tuned for no breather on it I left the breather on and never had a problem.

I think there are a few guys running the breather with out a chip programed for it, and are not having any problems.

I am running the breather with no problems other than it did not stop the oil in the tube.
