Can someone please tell me what kind of trans. fluid came in our L's. The dealer is telling me Mercon V, but the book says use what is marked on the dip stick and it says (Mercon) no III no V no nothing and no one sells just Mercon around here anyway, the book also says do not mix the fluids. I just put in the JL shift kit and need to fill it back up. Thanks

 

Dealer is an idiot. DO NOT use Mercron V. Use the "standard" Mercron (III I think....not sure). If you went with the 4x4 trans pan, you need 8 quarts. Good luck, you'll love the shifts!

 

thanx WL, and yea I'd have to agree with you this time. When I called the Ford man he said that all trans fluid was the same and just put anything in. I ask to speek to someone else. The next guy said sure use V and I told him the book says not to mix V and the dipstick said Mercon. He said he would find out and call me back and I'm still waiting. Anyway thanx again, I just finished putting everthing in and going down the road to try it out.
